Ippo vs Ricardo in Sports Talk

Welcome to my out of the square sportstalk again. Today, I'll be discussing Hajime no Ippo anime. Ippo's sparring against the Featherweight Division World Champion Ricardo Maritnez.

Ippo was the Japanese champion of the featherwaight division at that time when he got his chance to spar against the Ricardo. Ippo was a bit tense but Ricardo's facial expression does not show any sign of tension.

When the sparring started, Ippo has already give his all to land a punch. But he could not land a single punch. Why? Is Ricardo that good at dodging and speedy? No, maybe or maybe not. Whe anime shows that it was because of Ricardo's left. Before Ippo could stretch his hand for a punch, Ricardo's left has already landed on Ippo's face. Every single left that Ricardo has fired it was perfect.

Ippo does not expect to win anyway. His only goal was just to throw a punch that could change Ricardo's facial expression. So, Ippo tried his ultimate weapon, the Dempsey Roll and started swinging back and forth to gain the momentum in his movement. But when Ippo started his attack, Ricardo's left landed to Ippo's face several times resulting to Ippo lost his consciousness. Yes! Ippo lost to Ricardo just by using his left. Ricardo gained his name a "Super Champion" by successfully defending the World Title 17 times and not even a single oppenent has reached round 3 until his rematch to Eiji Date.
