... full to Par 3 membership. If we wouldn’t loose our share in the golf club we probably wouldn’t have taken a membership for 2020. Only played 3 rounds in 2019 so a dad but smart decision! 😔😔😔
I moved away from home but still keep the local membership. It was more than a club to me it's where i grew up. Had my first job there and was part of a great group of people. I only get to play it a few times a year but being a member is worth more than the money sometimes. Every year i debate dropping it but still join for the next year again.
Here the subscription fee for my wife, the oldest son and myself almost touches 3K €. So it was times to decrease the costs. The wife wants a new front yard so every dime is welcome 😁
Ouch. That would make a difference alright. Mine is just a few hundred so i can justify it to myself. Couldn't justify that much if i wasn't playing a few times a week.

Giving up some things can be a sad thing, but if it's about reorganizing resources to achieve new things, then it's not that bad, it's even much better if it's to fulfill your wife's wish :)
Certainly, if there is any emotional attachment and the cost is not considered high, then I would be in favor of staying in a membership, but if the cost is beyond what I can emotionally justify and I need those resources for other projects, then I would also give up and focus what I have to achieve the new goal.

I think that many times intelligent decisions and pleasant decisions are not very close, but I think it is good to make smarter decisions, even if they are a bit sad.

It's not an easy call to make.

It was indeed a sad decision but a smart one! The difference in price with a lower membership is huge! Would make one half way dolphin status!
Cheers,
Peter
