June 1, 22: Routine, DoubleDay, PUM, COIN, Teaching, TV, and Games

Slept from about eight until five thirty, and even with being woken up by the snoring and moving out to the couch in the living room, I was close enough to call it a full eight hours. 👍😁

Was back to work today, but between messing around with Wombat games and playing with COIN, I basically blew through the morning and was super late getting started on my post. So much so that I was really only able to get the bare skeleton done and ran out of time before I could include any of the actual blog part. Hate leaving it that way (and I suppose I could have edited in the evening), but I got busy doing other stuff.

Crypto markets were looking a bit nicer with BTC back well above $30k, but it looks like we may have been rejected around $32.5. Seems to be pulling back again somewhat, but hopefully building some momentum for another move to the upside. 🤞 Somehow, regardless, I’m losing yet even more on Polygon in terms of ETH…I’m just sitting, waiting for a recovery, and I just keep bleeding out. This was more than a year’s worth of stress and all I have to show for it is-1.03 ETH. 🤬🤬🤬 Never should have fucking bothered with it.

Anyway, I’ve gotten pretty addicted to the COIN app and it had been bugging me for several days to try out a subscription. Today was the first of the month and I had 5500 COINs, so I thought I’d give it a shot for a month and see how it goes. So far it seems to be alright. I hit my first big geomine for nearly five hundred and mining on the drive in and back was way more lucrative. I didn’t realize that the ad rewards were increased as well, so that helps, but it remains to be seen whether it will be worth it or not. Need to make 50k COIN in the month in order to just break even. It does carry 3.6% interest, so for now I’m just considering it an indirect monthly investment into interest bearing crypto…we’ll see how long that justification holds up.

Quick got my lunch and everything together and got ready for work. Was seriously late out the door, but I sped a bit and made it there in time. 👍 Today we really shifted gears and started taking about sequences…well, I started a step back with sets and then defined a sequence as an ordered set (as well as a function from the Naturals into some other set - usually the reals for us). Mostly a lot of definitions: sequence, convergence, bounded above and below, and monotone increasing and decreasing; but we did get to the punchline that a bounded, monotone sequence converges.

Headed out and got my lunch. Struggled with the WiFi signal, as usual, and then headed back in and did it again. The drive home went smoothly as well and I was home in time to get changed, dink around on the phone for a bit, and then jump into VR before Wenche got home.

I played some Mercenaries on Resi 4 again. Only have twelve medals left to earn, the seriously hard ones. I was able to get five stars on the sped up map…luckily on that one there’s actually a safe place to hide, so once I got the score I could just chill and wait for the time to expire.

I tried a couple more times on the chainsaw/big-ass dude level. The first couple attempt weren’t very good and I died around two stars, but on the last run I got five stars for the first time! All I had to do was survive for forty-five more seconds…and it didn’t happen. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Wenche was just coming in the door when I failed, so I quit out and we got some omelette for dinner.

Crushed the #DoubleDay again today, but I realized I’ve forgotten to add the last few to my tally…kind of guessed rather than going back through the last several years and counting again, so hopefully it’s right.

Got another Power Up Month done and in the bag, no problem! Thinking I might do PUD as well, but I’m a bit short on liquid at the moment, so we’ll have to see how that goes.

Watched some Librarians after dinner and I played a ton of Splinterlands before bedtime.

Another one mission day on Rising Star to the best of my recollection. I guess people make money from this, but I don’t get how. It’s just a lot of waiting for timers to expire.

With teaching all day, there wasn’t a snowball’s chance in Hell that I was going to be messing with HashKings. For now, it still just sits there idle. 🤬

Well, finally ended my Splinterlands drought. Let it simmer there for a couple days to get around the season reset and figured it was time to jump back in. Still trying to figure out the new rewards system, but I have some trepidations.

I played quite a lot actually and did make some progress. 💪 I got Dragon focus for today and despite winning five battles, I haven’t earned even one chest…if they’re like the old chests, just one thing in them, this is going to be fucking bullshit. I don’t know, though, maybe Diamond chests will have like five things in them? Will have to see. It does give more incentive to play (not just to get the five wins and stop) as you can earn more chests by playing more, but like I said, it’s already required a lot and I’ve not even got one. 😡

I still had the sneak quest outstanding from before the reset and I finished it in Gold III, not much to speak of:

I did break up into the next tier, which I guess now affects the next season’s chests.

Got my rewards for brawl participation and was able to purchase another Gladiator pack. Got an epic, at least, but again they aren’t really worth anything.

Just staked my SPS drop for today…only fifty days left or so! 😱 Didn’t get a chance to move out any vouchers, but I did go in and increase some of my pool positions this evening, so my need for liquid funds is that much more dire. Likely to move some out imminently.
