Mar. 30, 21: LBRY SEC Trouble, AutomaticWin, DoubleDay, Oculus, Teaching, and Games

Aw, man! I crashed out for like five hours last evening, was up for a couple hours doing laps and then went right back to bed. Slept all the way until six, so it counted as two hours short for the night, but I was way over. Actually felt alright today and was very active! 👍

Got on with the usual morning routine and was happy to see Bitcoin pushing back up toward $60k! Nice green candles, but the volume still just isn’t there. I keep hearing major bullish targets and we just had the news that Visa is allowing payment in crypto (settling in USDC), on top of Tesla just announcing their acceptance of Bitcoin directly...seems like we should be going to the moon?! Perhaps we’ll have to wait until tax seasons is over.

Went over to get my daily watch reward on LBRY and saw the announcement that the SEC has filed a complaint against them that LBC is an unlicensed security! 🤬

Hopefully this will end up ruling in favor of crypto...seems like regulatory overreach on the part of the SEC. It’s important to watch these things because they can have some major ripple effects on projects built on this chain, including Solairitas! 😱 I’ve done everything I can to avoid the SOL token from being a security, but if they start changing the rules and regulating every token that’s sold on a market even I could be in trouble. It’s alright, I suppose, I could just refund everyone their HIVE (over the powerdown period).

Was feeling a little down about how many red flags I got on my weekly stats report for last week. Only one way to fix that, get out and go! My exchange wasn’t due or anything, so it wasn’t official, but I scored the #AutomaticWin.

Still a bit chilly this morning, but the sun was shining and the wind wasn’t as bad. I dressed a bit more appropriately this time as well, so I didn’t much mind what wind there was.

Did a loop around and got the 10,000 steps, but kinda’ felt bad that I’d left the doggy behind, so I picked him up and took him for another kilometer or so around the block for a sniff and pee.

Got back, did my post for the day, grabbed a sandwich for lunch, and by then it was time to get ready for teaching. Met up with my Calculus class (only two students showed 😭) and we covered the Mean Value Theorem and concavity, quickly because I would have felt bad if they hadn’t at least seen it. Then we went through all the basic integral rules...the work has pretty much already been done in proving the derivative rules, all we have to do is go backwards (inverse).

Once class was done, I was a bit tempted to lay down for a while, but I wasn’t that tired and I was able to fight the urge. Instead I played some Beat Saber. 🤩 Cleared a couple new songs on expert that I realized I hadn’t finished before...tough ones for me, not as much because they’re too fast, but they’re like hardcore dubstep electronica or whatever, and I just don’t feel them as well. Give me a poppy, upbeat songs and I’m all over it...bonus if it has a funky retro disco backbeat. 🕺

By that point I was already super close to a #DoubleDay, and meeting with my Calculus II class put me well over for the day! 💪

In Calc 2 we finally got to the punchline of all the work we’ve been doing with sequences and series and their convergence...finally started representing functions with power series (infinitely long polynomials). I really wanted to bust into the full-fledged Taylor Series, but I stuck to geometric power series as a good place to start since we have a solid handle on their convergence and getting the series is mostly a matter of Algebra.

Once we finished up, I started getting ready for bed, but I was kinda’ wired up still and so I spent some time getting most of this post done ahead of time...kinda’ nice to have to spend all the time in the morning (gave me a chance to go for another walk this morning 😁).

Watched a bit of a mystery drama movie Wenche had on and was out around nine thirty or so. 😴

Still doing well over on Holybread. Been getting my tasks done on the regular lately...although I have a legendary hero already sitting there that I haven’t messed with, so I don’t really have any intention of getting another. Consequently, not much point in saving up bread now that I think about it. Goal set, goal achieved, so it’s worth a bit of seratonin, I suppose.

Got knocked down big time today, like seventh, but I got back up to third (well, second since first place is inactive).

Still need bittering and aroma hops on CryptoBrewmaster. Just got some water and barley today, so still no closer to starting a brew. Maybe tomorrow or the next day?

Less than a day left to go in the Splinterlands season. I was busy, really, pretty much all day...not that I was going to play anyway. Just waiting for the reset.
