Now that's how you grind out a win

In my previous post, I talked about how I had this weird fear of Leeds United and for most of the first half in a game that we managed to grind out a 1-nil victory, it was truly heart in mouth.

The Lily Whites under Marcelo Bielsa looked and played like a well oiled machine and if it weren't for profligacy, they would have been 2 or 3 goals up by the break. Our first half performance was nothing but abject and we struggled to cope with the speed and industry of @leedsunited.

The second half came and whatever it is Arteta told them in the dressing room certainly gave the boys a lift. The boys came out roaring and eventually eked out the lone goal of the match. It was a vintage performance and in the circumstance, we can be happy with the result. I also noticed that;

• There were tired legs out there
• Holding needs time to gel with the team.
• Sokratis looks and plays like a Greek soldier. He's probably related to @trumpman
• Lacazette is the first line of defence.
• Mesut Ozil's performance yet again mirrored the general mood. It still doesn't feel like he's a game changer.
• Defence stood firm and resolute.
• Guendouzi isn't a defensive midfielder and was regularly caught out of position. We Looked so much better in second half when we were on the offensive.

It wasn't one of our best days but in the past, we've lost games like these. It's now two wins in a row and the boys can be proud of this result as they enjoy a few days off. We go again on Sunday at Selhurst park in yet another London Derby and is very likely going to be a tough game. Until we meet again, Up the Arsenal.
