World Series Game 7 Recap: Making History

First off, my apologies for the picture from 2015, I try to use properly sourced and licensed photos if I can't use my own. That makes it hard to post current photos for sports posts. Sorry Bryce Harper :)

As the title states, last night in game seven of the world series, several historic milestones were achieved. With a 6 to 2 victory over the Houston Astros, the Washington Nationals won their first ever World Series. In addition to that, this is the first World Series in history where every game has been won by the away team.

I am no mathematician or statistician, but the odds of that happening have to be pretty high.

I am a bit bummed that Verlander wasn't able to get another ring, but two other former Tigers pitchers were on the Nationals, Scherzer (did you know he has one blue eye and one brown eye?), and Sanchez. The sad thing is, in 2013 all three of those pitchers were together on the Detroit Tigers in their starting rotation

Despite the loss, Greinke didn't pitch a bad game for the Astros, he only gave up no runs until the seventh inning when he allowed two Nationals players to score. After that, I place the blame solely on the Astros bullpen and the inability of their offense to put up runs when it mattered.

That being said, Scherzer pitched a pretty decent game giving up the only two Houston runs across five innings. The real heroes of this game would have to be Corbin and Hudson in the Nationals bullpen totally shutting down and allowing only two hits in four innings of baseball.

Soto continued to put up some fantastic numbers on offense for the Nationals as well as Kendrick. They went 2 for 4 and 2 for 3 respectively. The winners (if you can call them that) on the Astros side were Gurriel and Correa. If I still played fantasy baseball I would definitely earmark one of those two for my team next year.

This series was definitely not without its controversy. It was game five or six that had some really questionable calls by the officials that left fans up in arms.

Whether the team you were cheering for won or lost, in the end we are all winners for being able to watch two fantastic clubs go head to head and finish things off in an epic full seven game series.

Predictions for next year? Is it April yet? I'd love to hear your comments!
