Ball-handling, shooting, and conditioning are all important things in basketball. And improving those aspects can surely improve your game. This is a one-person shooting drill and it's a fun way to work on your game and get some shots up. Also, if you have a friend you can compete against them when they have their own basketball. This drill is kind of like a full-court hot shot drill. You start with the basketball and you're going to dribble down the full court. So, every time you cross the half-court line you need to make a dribble move. It can be a crossover, behind the back, or an in-and-out cross, something like that.

So, it's going to give you that transition feels then you're going to dribble into a shot. You can go into a three-pointer which would be worth three points. You can go into a mid-range jumper worth two. Or you can just go into a layup worth one point. So that's your point totals right every time you make one of those shots. If you miss, the goal is to get that rebound before it hits the ground. So makes sure you do not quit on the play, try and get the rebound, finish it and you can finish it with one point.

Also, this is going to really work on your mental toughness making those shots when it matters. And you know, staying with the play as the game goes on so at any time you score you get the rebound, you get it out of the net and you go back down the other way. So again, you're going to do that dribble move at half-court, come back down and then shoot again.

Now you play up to 21. So, if it's by yourself you're going to try to get to 21 as fast you can. If you're against your friends, the same thing but at least you're competing and you can you call out your numbers as you go across that course. You have a feel for it.

Summary

Alright, let us reiterate those teaching points one more time. First is you got to follow your shot. This will help you develop good habits. You follow your shot and that's why we're giving you one point if you can get the rebound before it hits the ground. The next teaching point is we really want you to stay low and put a good dribble move on a half-court. A realistic move, so hold yourself accountable because those moves will be what can get you open and create space. You'll have more opportunities to shoot, score, and get assists in games. And the last teaching point is we want you to use your legs. If you don't use your legs it’ll be more tiring. But if you can use your legs, you'll be able to have a more consistent jump shot and make more shots in a game.
