in combat •  7 months ago

If you are not aware of the situation, the robbers and thieves can take advantage of the situation and steal your money, bag, bike, phone, or anything that they can. Welcome back to Self Defense Situation - What Do You Do? - Part 35. I'd like to thank all of you for your support and feedback.

Sometimes the attackers use some techniques and take advantage of the moment, and commit a crime. First, they get control of the situation and put you in a vulnerable position. If you have situational awareness and know what to do at the moment, you can defend yourself.

When I say know, I mean, know the technique and practice that. You do not have the time to think. You have to react fast. In this series of posts, I usually share a video and talk about the situation that you see. This is not my video. All video credit goes to that channel. You can like and subscribe to their channel because they put their effort and time to make those videos and share their knowledge about self defense.

Source and Video Credit

From 0:40 to 2:35 Minutes

In this video, you see a girl reading a magazine or book, a guy and girl come in a bike. Then the guy grabs her hair, hits her, and puts her on the ground. After that, they take her bike and get out of there. I do not know the language that is spoken in this video. So if you know the language, you can understand what they are saying.

To defend yourself, you can use the technique that shows in this video - grabbing the attacker's wrist in one hand and pushing and grabbing the attacker's elbow with your other hand. You also have to move your body to make this technique work. However, if you do not get much time or the attacker is stronger and bigger than you, you might find it difficult to apply this technique.

So what should you do then?

The attacker grabs your hair, that's okay as long as you stop the attacker controlling you. You can grab his hand tight that holds your hair. Now, if he wants to attack you, he has to use his other hand. Your one hand is open to defend and counter-attack. The attacker can also try to knee you. You can stop that using your hand.

As soon as you grab his hand, attack the attacker. Do not give him a chance to attack you. Then you can get out of there quickly.

So what would you do in the situation? Please feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comment section. If you want to learn more about self defense and martial arts, check out some of my recent posts.

The tactic shown may not be appropriate if the attacker, instead of simply holding the girls long hair in his hand, he has it twisted around his hand. In that situation using the tactic shown, the girl will be dragged along with him as he falls. I am wondering what would be the appropriate tactic if that happens?

If the attacker grabs the girl's hair tight and has it twisted, simply doing the technique that shows in the video will not work. In this situation, you can do a couple of things.

  • Your first reaction should be stopping the attacker from controlling your body. Grab the attacker's hand that he uses to grab your hair. From there, you can strike him instantly. You can strike to his face, do hammer fist. If he is close enough and he cannot make your lower head, you can do knee charge.

  • You can grab his hand, turn and apply pressure to his wrist. This is going to be painful.

  • You can grab his hand and turn the attacker's elbow with your other hand. If you do that, he has to let you go.

Hope this answers your question. Thank you so much @devann for your question. :)

Let's see if I find a video on YouTube that shows some similar things that I'm talking about. Maybe I will make a post about it.
