The Stars fantastic run of form was ended in their last outing by the Sydney Sixers in a rain-affected match. That winning streak had stretched right back to 30th December when these 2 teams last met and the Strikers inflicted the Stars only other defeat of the season so far. Those 2 losses are important indicators that suggest with the playoffs coming up this tournament might not be the foregone conclusion that some are suggesting. Indeed, another loss here against a playoff rival might have the Stars worrying that they've peaked too early.

As for the Strikers, they suffered a mid-season wobble but have since won 3 of their last 4 games to put them in command of a top 5 spot. However, they will undoubtedly want to push their position as high up the table as possible to ensure an easier route through to the finals this year. Travis Head's return from Test duty has been a welcome relief for them and essentially coincided with that return to form. With Alex Carey on his way back from International Duty, I think things are coming together quite nicely for the 2018 champions.

The last 3 games here suggest a low scoring pitch but I'd say that the issues in those games revolved more around poor batting than poor conditions. There are plenty of talented batsmen on show who could put that right but at the same time there will be plenty of skilful bowlers playing in this fixture who are able to limit the scoring again. This should be a really good contest between arguably the best 2 sides in the competition.
