If it seems like a long time since you've seen the Heat mentioned in these contests that's because relatively speaking it has been! Having played 3 times in the opening week of the tournament, they've since had an 8-day break between matches. I'm sure for those players with young families that time off over Christmas was very welcome but how will it have effected their form? No doubt, the Heat have always had the hitting power up top to cause this kind of devastation but the consistency has been lacking. The same too can be said of the Scorchers who have delivered some big scores themselves recently but have struggled to win games.

Although it's very early days in the tournament as a whole, there does seem to be a split occurring in the standings that makes this a crucial game for both teams involved. Win and they will be within touching distance of a top 4 spot, lose and it's going to be an uphill struggle to make the play-offs
