Yea, we currently have two live events totaling ~1400 USD in prizes.

If I understand correctly, does the contest consist, in Steemit's case, of publishing an article with the label #cateredcontent? Or something else?

This needs to be explained properly, both here and on your website.

Here is a video one of our users made.

I would love to hear what you think we can do to make it easier for users to understand!

Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for the link, here's my feedback.

Unfortunately she jumps straight into the "how" and not the "what", the video should have started with a description of what Catered Content is, and why a user would want to use it.

Secondly I found her accent very hard to follow and had to go back to a few bits. Lastly there was little demonstration and the ones that were there still did not have enough explanation to go with them.

From watching the video, I got that there are prizes for something, but I have no idea what the criteria for winning those prizes are. What the prizes are, or where I can collect them. As a watcher of this video, and potential user, I have to say it would not, and in fact does not want to make me check out the site, as I'm confused as to what it is.

Solution:

The video should be laid out like this.

  1. What is Catered Content - A clear and simple description as to what the site is for, and why it exists.

  2. Why a user would want to use Catered Content - The benefits

  3. How it works - This should be broken down into the constituent parts, like prizes, winnings, and so on.

  4. How to use - This is more like the video above, if the first 3 steps are done well, then this bit will need little explanation, but should contain reminders as to what the features are.

  5. Call to action - Tell us that by clicking this button we will start our own profile/account or whatever you call it.

If you pull this off, in plain and clear language, using as little technical jargon as possible, then potential users will understand. However If you do have to use jargon, make sure it can be quickly and easily explained.

One more thing, if the person making it has a strong colloquial accent, use subtitles or a hired voice over artist to record the script.

Wow. Amazing advice. We will go ahead and look for a way to make it more intuitive.

Thanks for taking the time to write this!

In essence we run writing contests and bounties where users can participate to win cryptocurrencies. Supported social media are always listed and instructions to participate are in the event page. Usually participation is something like:

  1. Write an article about a blockchain project on Medium/Steemit
  2. Submit that link on CateredContent.com
  3. Once the event finishes we will send you your reward and announce winners!

No problem :-)

The way you lay it out is very simple, I get it now. So I write the article here for instance (though it doesn't have to be), then submit that link.

If the event wins you'll send me the reward to my steem wallet, right?

So does that mean only users of Steemit can enter these comps?

In the case of the OnePageX.com event pretty much everyone is guaranteed to win. If you write better, you are likely to win more :)

Good luck to all the authors. I'm more of an audio and visual content creator. But I can't wait to see who wins.
