It isn't that often that I post via Dlike.  In fact, I try to use the platform pretty sparingly since I know it has been prone to abuse in the past (and currently) which as put a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

Occasionally, I come across an article that I just feel needs to be shared.  Something I read that interests me or grabs my attention and I find that really the best way to share it is via Dlike.io.

This happens to be one such article.

There was a time many years ago when I was laid off from work.  Technically, I was cut to part time, so while I would work in the morning I would basically come home before noon and have the whole afternoon to myself.

Frequently, I would have lunch and then go for a walk or throw a couple of rounds of disc golf with my friend who was a teacher and therefore didn't have to work in the Summer.

There were rare occasions where it would be raining or something else was going on and I would simply stay at home and watch cable TV.  It was those times that I discovered the numerous ESPN channels (above ESPN2) and the different types of sports that they covered.

Everything from bowling, to billiards and yes, even darts.  I haven't watched a dart match in forever, but i can still remember how excited the announcers would get over every throw.  There was this one guy in particular that had a decidedly gravelly voice and I can still hear it in my head to this day announcing the score after each throw.

Just by watching those matches I can imagine how rowdy this crowd must have gotten.  I personally am not sure soccer hooligans have anything on dart fans!

One thing to note, this is a Yahoo sports article, so you have to read the title very carefully.  At first glance they kind of make you think that Fallon Sherrock took the whole thing, but the fact is, she merely won a single match.

That is still awesome though, while she isn't the first woman to compete in the world championship, she is the first woman to win a match.   Personally, I think that is something we can all get excited about.

I can only imagine the skill it takes to throw six perfect 180's.

So there you go, I hope you enjoyed this post and article as much as I did.  You will have to excuse me now, I need to dig out my dart board and hang it up in my garage.

This is significant. Men ought not to have an advantage in darts, but it seems they have dominated the game. It is associated with drinking as it's mostly played in pubs and bars, but I bet most of the top players keep a clear head. I've never played seriously, but there are teams at some of the pubs I play music at.

You are probably right, I was sort of being funny. I actually hesitated and thought about removing that line. The comments on the article were very similar to yours, questioning why there even needs to separate men's and women's divisions in the first place. I was never great, but I have some fond memories of throwing darts.

I actually just read that she has a kidney condition and she doesn't drink at all. This has been a contentious issue through her career and I plan on editing my post and removing that comment after I post this reply.
