Steve Cohen is a Wall Street billionaire who wants a professional sports team.  It is looking like he will have one.

Fred Wilpon is in talks with Cohen about him acquiring an 80% stake in the team.  Wilpon's company owns about 68% of the team.  Cohen bought a 4% share for $20 million back in 2012.

Under terms of the agreement being negotiated, the Wilpons, Fred and Jeff, would retain their positions for a period of 5 years.  Fred is CEO and Jeff is COO of the team.

Cohen has said he is not interested in running the team and would continue as CEO of his present company.

The numbers being thrown around would value the Mets at $2.6 billion.
