Wednesday 28/08/2019 Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam moved into the group stage of the Champions League after a precious 2-0 win at home to Cyprus' Apoel Nicosia on Wednesday, in the second leg of the group stage of the continental competition.
Ajax took advantage of a goalless draw in the first leg in the Cypriot capital Nicosia last week to continue their career in the tournament, which culminated in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1995.
Edson Alvarez of Mexico opened the scoring for the Dutch champions in the 43rd minute and Serbian Dusan Tadic scored the second goal in the 80th minute.
The draw for the group stage of the Champions League will be held on Thursday in the Principality of Monaco, where the 32 teams participating in this round will be divided into 8 groups, by 4 teams in each group.
