There are some vulnerable points of the body where you can attack in order to defend yourself such as eyes, throat, solar plexus, groin and so on.

Most of the time we hear attacking to the groin. Yes, it works if you can hit the target. Otherwise, it will turn into something bad. If you can just kick, and the attack stands in a side, you might find it difficult to hit.

You have to get close to the attacker. You can use it as a part of other strikes. So you cannot just depend on that. You have to do multiple strikes, and be ready to move and defend yourself.
