In Indonesia, especially in rural areas such as around my place. We easily find the house on the front page where there are many trees, one of which is the rambutan fruit favorite. And, today I visited one of my laundry consumers. Seen in front of his house rambutan tree is bearing fruit.

From the source : https://ilmubudidaya.com/cara-menanam-rambutan Rambutan, Nephelium Lappaceum, is a fruit that is quite easy to find. Besides being quite easy to plant, it turns out that rambutan also has a lot of fans. Because the rambutan is a fruit that has many health benefits for the body. But, even like that, in reality not many people know how to plant rambutan properly.

And if you are curious about the benefits of this rambutan, here are some of the benefits of rambutan :

  • Cure diseases due to lack of vitamins A and C,
  • Cure Hypertension,
  • Cure Diarrhea,
  • Cure Inflammation, and
  • Prevent cancer

In addition to the many benefits separately to cure diseases and maintain a healthy body, it turns out that rambutan fruit is a fruit that has a useful carbohydrate content as an additional source of energy for the body.

If you are getting interested in rambutan fruit and want to cultivate it, here's how to plant rambutan you should know so that the rambutan that you plant is bearing fruit quickly and quickly :

1.Growing Requirements

Rambutan is one type of tropical plant. So it's no wonder rambutan is found in Indonesia. But even like that, one of the conditions for growing rambutan so that it produces dense and sweet fruit is the height of the plain. Rambutan can only grow to its maximum if it is in the lowlands with an altitude of around 30-500 masl.

Besides height, the other requirement for rambutan growth is the amount of rainfall that is obtained. To get maximum results, rainfall needed by rambutan ranges from 1500 to 2500 mm evenly throughout the year.

2.Determine Land

Planting rambutan can actually be done in two media. Land media and also media pots. For land media, the thing to consider is the type of soil that will be the planting medium. The soil used for growing media must be fertile, loose, and contain a little sand. For the Ph itself, so that rambutan grows optimally around 6.5 to 7.

3.Seeds

To plant rambutan, there are several ways to obtain rambutan seeds. First, you can get it generatively by planting seeds. Second, you can get rambutan seedlings by vegetative means such as grafting. If you want to know how to get rambutan seeds by grafting, here are the ways that you can make a guide :

  • To transplant, there are some equipment that you must prepare in advance such as a knife, fertile soil that has been mixed with manure, plastic holes or coconut fiber, and ropes.

  • Branch selection. The characteristics of the branch that can be grafted must be at least 80cm long and have a minimum age of 5 months. Also, make sure the breeding trees you will be grafting are quality broodstock. Do not let your origin in choosing a broodstock. Because if you graft a diseased hen tree, surely your rambutan tree will also get diseased as well because the nature of the hen tree will be carried to the grafted seedlings that you plant.

  • If you have determined the branch that you want to graft, peel off the bark for 20cm and clean the cambium that covers the inside of the branch.

  • After the stem is cleaned, then the stem is left to dry.

  • If the stem is dry then you have to wrap the branch with soil that has been mixed with manure with a hollow plastic or coconut fiber and the two ends of the dressing are tied with a rope that you have prepared before.

  • After the graft has been carried out, an important step that must be done next is to water the graft every day for two months until the roots come out of the graft wrap and then transferred to the desired growing media.

4.Planting on land

As mentioned earlier, planting rambutan can actually be done in planting or in pots. It's just that, even like that, planting rambutan on land is the most common and most recommended. The reason is if you plant in a planting area, the development and growth of your rambutan will be faster than if you plant it with a potting medium. This can occur because the space for movement and plant growth space is not limited.
For the planting media itself, you can use a mixture of soil, compost, and manure in a ratio of 1: 1: 1 or with the same amount of dosage in all three. And here are the things that must be considered before planting rambutan in the field :

  • Try before the planting process is carried out, the land area is free from wild plants or weeds. This is because wild plants or weeds have the potential as a source of disease and plant pests. Crops that have been cut down must be burned instead of stacked and left to rot because it will precisely become a new nest for pests and diseases.

  • Making a hole. Before planting in the planting area, all you have to do is make a planting hole with a size of 1.5m x 1.5m and a depth of 1.5m. However, the size of this hole is of course not standard because the size of the hole must be adjusted to the size of the seeds to be planted later. Making this hole must be done 2 weeks before the seed planting process is carried out.

  • Another thing to consider before you plant rambutan on the ground is to make sure that the planting land has another larger tree around the planted seed. The function of this larger tree is that the seeds you just planted don't get too much sun and wind.

  • If there are no large trees around the seedlings that you plant, all you need to do is water the seeds more to meet the water needs of the seedlings in the photosynthesis process at a high enough dose. In addition, also provide the seeds of support so that the plant does not collapse when blown by a large enough wind and roots that are not strong enough to support.

  • If you want to plant more than one seedling, try spacing one seedling with another seedling 10-14m apart so that later the growth of the two seedlings will not interfere with each other.

5.How to Grow Rambutan in a Pot

To plant rambutan in a pot, the size of the pot must be a major concern. This is because rambutan cannot grow optimally in small sized pots. The larger the diameter of the pot used will be the maximum development of the rambutan tree that you planted. Typically, the size of the diameter of the pot used ranges from 50cm to 1m.

For planting media used, you can use the same composition as planting on planting land. Namely fertile soil, compost, and manure. However, because you plant it in a pot with limited space from the roots, then the addition of the type of composition of the planting medium needs to be done to enrich the nutrients. The type of material added is roasted husk, ordinary husk, and coconut husk with a ratio of 1: 1 for all of them evenly. In addition, the planting media must be made 2 weeks before planting.

There are special treatments that you must do if you want to plant rambutan in a pot. In the first three months after the seedlings are planted, try not to be exposed to direct sunlight because the seeds are in the adaptation stage because they grow separately from broodstock. After three months have passed or good growth, seedlings can be moved elsewhere so that they are exposed to direct sunlight.

6.Care

In addition to basic fertilizers given at the beginning of planting, rambutan trees are also given further fertilizer so that maximum growth. For the type of fertilizer itself, the fertilizer used is usually manure with a TSP fertilizer mixture in a ratio of 1: 2.

Fertilization is usually done after the rambutan tree is 2 years old with a distance of fertilizer as far as the area of leaf size as diameter.

7.Types of Rambutan Disease

Just like other plants, rambutan trees also have their own diseases which, if not treated immediately, will actually cause quite serious problems for your plants. Some diseases commonly found in rambutan trees are leaf spot, stem spot, and white root. To overcome this, you can use Bordeaux porridge or California porridge for leaf spot and insecticide for stem spot.

8.Types of Rambutan Pests

Pests that often interfere with the growth of rambutan trees are usually ants, squirrels, bats, lice, ladybugs, fruit borer caterpillars, and stem borer caterpillars. To overcome this, usually a fairly effective way is to use insecticides and fungicides.

9.Pruning

Another treatment in caring for rambutan trees is the pruning process. This pruning is usually done by cutting or trimming branches or stems that are not productive or damaged and die. The function of this pruning is to focus the supply of tree nutrition on productive branches or stems to produce even more fruit.

10.Harvesting

Rambutan is one of the plants that takes a long time to flower and bear fruit. But even like that, the harvest time of course is determined by how you plant it at the beginning. If you plant it starting from seed, of course it takes longer than when you plant it with a graft technique. With graft techniques, rambutan will usually begin harvesting
