Skateboarding was born...

When in the 1950s in California, when surfers got bored, when the water was flat. They wanted something to surf, so they decided to surf on the streets. They took planks of wood, attached roller-skate wheels. Without knowing, it's started a new trend that's called S-K-A-T-E-B-O-A-R-D-I-N-G

Of course, these surfers didn't it yet. Skateboarding was still called "sidewalk surfing" and it was just something to do for fun when they couldn't surf. The board where basic and not very safe. They got hurt, but they loved the new sport anyway. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, skateboarding grew. The first skateboarding competition was held, and the skate shop opened up. 1970s skaters begin use empty swimming pools for performing their actions. In 1972, proper skateboard wheels and the board where developed became safer and lighter. Over time, they create many tricks such as the Ollie (jumping in the air without using your hands), Kickflips (flipping the board lengthwise while you're in the air), slide or grinds (sliding down a rail on the board).

These tricks more growth up and make skateboarding athletic, exciting, fun to watch but they also make themselves dangerous. The most common skateboarding injuries are to the wrist, ankle, and face and the cause serious head injuries. Nowadays, there are protective helmets and other gear that always develop for help prevent injuries.
