Lunch Run with a friend

I just finished a 9.479km running that lasted about 0hh:53mm:34ss !

As I am home this week and I know my friend Jon works from home up the road I enquired if he fancied a run. He does triathlons and is fitter than me, but we have run together before. He was planning on doing some 6 minute interval sprints. We headed north towards Henlow Grange. On the first sprint Jon went off ahead as I expected, but I could see from my new watch that I was doing a fairly good pace. This is the first time since I started running that I have not taken a phone with me. It does make a difference being able to see how you are performing, but I am sure some would say you should go with how it feels. I like the feedback I get from the Garmin. I also worked out that there were more screens with extra details such as heart rate, but I am not sure what all of the number mean. I need to read up on that.

We had 3 minutes of recovery before the next sprint. I was aiming for the sort of pace I would do at parkrun and more or less achieved that. Jon said the third one would be the hardest, but I did not find it too bad. We just about made it to Langford at the end of the second.

Even the fourth sprint was okay, but I was losing some speed by then. On each of these Jon finished some way ahead of me and would jog back to join me.

We had a good chat along the way too. I hope we can do more runs together soon.

The Garmin to Strava sync seems to be almost instant. I plan to do the writeups in Strava and then Exhaust will load those. I will try the free trial of Strava Summit to see what extra options it provides. I do like having lots of statistics. I also have the stats on Garmin, so I need to decide how much is enough.

The red line on the graph is my heart rate, but it does not have a scale. I know it was over 180 at times.

Man, you are just killing it! I saw in your other post you have run over 1000km so far this year? That is pretty impressive! I can't even imagine! With all of that running your metabolism must be in overdrive. I'd like my to at least be out of park :) Great job!

It's 100, not 1000 :) There are people who run over 100km every week. I can't imagine getting to that level.

You know, as I was typing that I got thinking I might have read it wrong. :) That is pretty crazy. You would have to really love running I think.
