Lunch Run Intervals: Warm and windy

I just finished a 6.523km running that lasted about 0hh:38mm:31ss !

For some reason we keep getting high winds at the times I want to run. At least it was warmer than it has been lately. I needed to get back into doing some intervals to try and build some speed. These short ones are challenging and trying to sprint into the wind added to the effort.

There was a red kite circling over me that may have been looking at me as its next meal if I collapsed. When I got to Fairlands Valley I decided to turn right and run down past the wood towards the football stadium for a change. There were lots of runners around there. I wonder if some drive to the park to run. It was really windy down that stretch.

I kept going round that way to head back to work and saw lots more runners. It was definitely more than I normally see. The last few cycles of sprints were hard work. According to my watch I was getting down close to 4min/km on some sprints. I wonder if I will ever be able to maintain that sort of speed for long. I will be happy enough to keep it under 5min/km.

I hope others have better running conditions. We have Steem runners all over the world, so there will everything from snow to blazing heat.

Run free, and vote for your witnesses for the good of Steem!

You need to stake more BEER (6 staked BEER allows you to call BEER one time per day)

Good effort getting that distance in at a lunchtime: we still had a fair bit of rain in the north, and tomorrow there will be more again!

We had the rain yesterday. It's been a pretty wet winter so far. Is spring coming?

Wow, great effort, that is a LOT of intervals!

The wind can be a pain with those TBH.

Wasn't it you who recommended the 30-20-10 to me? It just keep going round. Makes for an interesting run.

Yup, I do 3 sets of 5*30-20-10, 2 mins walking in between each set.

It's quite a good workout!

Nice job on the run. I know how much of a pain the wind can be when it really kicks up. We get some pretty nasty wind chill numbers over here. I did my regular two mile walk this morning. The wife and I recently purchased some resistance tubes so we are going to start working that into our routine twice a week I think.

That happens to me when I go out for a walk. It looks nice and calm but then, when I get just far enough away from my office to have to keep going, the wind starts blowing and no matter which way I turn it blows in my face.

It wasn't too bad for me until I went around a corner and got the full blast, but I take it as extra exercise.
