End of the Year's Run

avatar

I just finished a 9.024km running that lasted about 0hh:41mm:24ss !

No way. I wake up this morning with one main target in my head. Let's do the last run of the year.
Maybe you think it is an easy enterprise for me but believe me, having children around and preparing for the End of the year party this evening at home is not an easy work neither.
Somehow, at noon I found my "opportunity Window" and I did not think it twice, I scaped for a short but intense run on hills.
I went straight to the closest hill to home, the Montjuich Mountain, where the 1992 Olympic Facilities are placed and fo you know what I found passing by the Olympic stadium?
It was opened free for visits so, I did not hesitate and went inside to have a look and take some pics.
Fortunately and Italian couple help me by doing a photography of myself in the border of the stadium tribune.

An historical place that for sure worths your visit if you visit Barcelona.

At the end I did more than 9 Kms in total and 250m of accumulated altitude everything done in 41 minutes. Fast? well, too fast indeed.

My legs are strong but my heart and lungs are out of fit after so much food and drink these days obviously.

Since it is the last day of the year I have checked the total number of kilometers I have run this year.
My overall yearly volume till this year is about 2000km but this time has been complicate for me in terms of availability. So much work, business trips and family commitments have affected my total running volume which has been of 1264 km which means something around 24km a week. Taking into account that I did not run on August due to holidays neither I did run so much during December and christmas holidays, this number is not bad as maintenance but not sufficient in order to get better times on 5K or 10K races...
But, well, I do what I can and the most important of all is that I am free of injure this year, something that could not say in the precedent years.

2020 is going to be a busy year as well for me, the project on which I work, ITER, is reaching an important milestone on which I am fully involved so, it is going to be hard for me in order to keep a sustained training plan.
Anyway, I am going to keep training myself and some fellow runners of the running club, always placing racing goals during the year.

Happy 2020 for all of you and... of course, Keep on running!
