A New Star Is Born

When I was younger I used to watch figure skating, it was one of my favorite sport after gymnastics. I still like both but somehow figure skating is not as entertaining as gymnastics.

Anyway, today while reading the news on twitter I saw a tweet about Alexandra Trusova, 15, becomes first woman to land three quadruple jumps. This is huge and the fact that a 15 year old girls is the first to do it shows that young age counts a lot.

Alexandra Vyacheslavovna Trusova is a 15 year old Russian figure skater who made history at this young age. She also holds the world record for the free skate (163.78 points) and the combined total (238.69 points).

She's not a usual young lady. As far as figure skating is concerned, she has a lot of "firsts" tide to her name already and she's only 15. Imagine what can she accomplish if she continues her string of "firsts" over the coming years.

The whole thing started when she received a pair of roller skates from her parents. She was four at that time. She loved them so much that could hardly take them off, she was wearing them all the time. This indicates that it was love at first sight and she knew from a young age what she wants. Her parents took her to figure skating.

She started training seriously when they moved to Moscow. She wants to win an Olympic medal, that is her dream and soon it can come true. Shes just 15 now and the age limit for the Olympics is 16, which means you must turn 16 within the same calendar year.

Her results however are not based on pure luck. She's a hard worker and has a very strict calendar.

“I wake up very early, usually at sunrise,” she says. “Warm-ups start at 10am, and we then have to do training on ice, fitness programmes and dance classes; all in all, it lasts around six to seven hours.
“I have home tutors who give me private lessons,” she says. “At other times, I go to school or study by myself.” source

That needs a lot of dedication, self control and discipline. It also means she's giving up a part of her childhood and youth for something she believes in. It's definitely admirable in my opinion.

I hope she's going to be present at every upcoming major competition and I want to see her getting the gold every time possible.
