Running & Debates | Actifit: October 7 2019
Today was an interesting day, busy at the office, went for a 4 km run at lunch and watch the Canadian Federal election debates on TV this evening.
All said and done it was a great day.
As for the debates, I thought it was exciting and well organized considering. And I felt the bias of the moderators was... bareable. And that's saying a lot.
Did you all see the debate? If so what did you think?

I saw it.
I thought Bernier was ok. Scheer and Singh definitely won it. If Singh can scoop a few seats from the liberals in Ontario and Quebec, that could at least keep the liberals from a majority. I thought May and Justin were both terrible.
I saw afterwards that the PPC was easily the most googled political party on all of Canada throughout the whole debate. That’s exactly what the doctor ordered for Bernier.
It’s going to be interesting if this debate moves the polls around at all.... although I’m beginning to think some of the polls aren’t accurate.

I thought Singh was great, charming and clear, but one thing he kept saying that scares me is his talk about the wealth accumulation in the 1%, and how that's gotta stop... that's capitalism you're talking about stopping. If there is no incentive to succeed, then people stop trying to succeed. IMO.
Also Singh's position on free speech is in my view 100% unacceptable. Everyone should have a voice, no matter the content of their speech. Bad ideas will die in the light of debate, and good ideas will thrive also.
Scheer did score some points, and I thought he did ok, but not great. I liked when he said maybe Trudeau should run for Premiere instead of Prime Minister. But I thought May hit him pretty hard a couple times, and also Maxime ran over him when they debated. IMO.
As for Max, I thought he did well, but the questions brought to him were so biased it always required a defense of his character before he could respond to the material of the question, that's unfortunate for him.
Elizabeth May was quiet, when she spoke she may have scored points within her base, but that's not me. I dont buy the climate alarmism, and I for one do not agree that we are capable of growing the economy while paying the carbon taxes she is calling for.
I think Singh’s politics are garbage, but I think it’ll appeal to his base. Same with May, the difference was Singh was well spoken and articulate. I think Singh might have won some people over last night outside his base. May strikes me as the crazy drunk family Auntie. She might be fun to hang out with, but no one outside her base will take her seriously.
Bernier’s english isn’t great, and I think it hurt him. I suspect he’ll be better in the French debate.
