Why Only Now?

Over the last few months we have seen racism rear it's ugly head again at foot ball matches. The truth is it hasn't just happened over night and has been around for decades. Everyone may not remember Cyril Regis, but he played for England and a host of clubs between 1978 and 1996. He complained about the racial abuse back then and very little happened.

The reality is that it needed to be bought out into the open many years ago and not now. Everyone is at fault for letting it slide from the fans to the players. You can't blame one section and the clubs need to get a grip on this and root this behavior out. I am talking about the proper racism and not doing witch hunts as that will make it worse.

I say that as I have seen it in every day life growing up and now the roles are reversed with racism coming the other way. I don't know why there is so much hatred against people of different skin color, but it is there. I am white and I have seen hatred and racism aimed at myself on numerous occasions and the only way is to not let it get to you.

What Rudiger did at the weekend was right by informing the referee ,but do it quietly so the authorities can catch the ones doing it in the act. Cameras are everywhere today and zooming in on a certain section of the crowd is all the proof they need. The fans in the crowd could turn others in if there was a direct line so these fans could be monitored in the future. A leopard doesn't change it's spots and nor will a racist so by being smart you will route out the instigators.

When I lived in the UK I did notice racism from both sides and the politically correct thinking has made it worse. Why was the MOBO (music of black origin) Awards allowed to even happen when you have the British Music Awards. The last time I looked the British Awards is for all artists no matter what skin color. I find this type of thing in your face and disgraceful and is racist from the blacks on whites. Everyone takes this for granted these days and as an award ceremony it is just very wrong.

Racism will take years to clean up and I honestly doubt if one can ever get rid of it. Education is a key part of this as you find most racists on both sides lack intelligence. Racism will hopefully disappear eventually but I doubt this very much. Today in South Africa we have a new generation growing up who shouldn't see skin color, but they do. 25 years on and the problem is still here whether you like it or not and people will tell you that everyone loves each other.

A small percentage is causing this nonsense and it could get worse if more attention is thrown at it. Examples need to be made and life time bans from all sporting events should be issued. This is ant social behavior and they need to be shunned by the community. Anything less is not dealing with the problem and will be discussed again in 20 years time if not done correctly.

The problem we have today is that the race card is being used too often when it isn't the case. This needs to stop as it dilutes the ones that are genuine. When I see it being used in stupid situations when there is no race issues I get angry as normally the accuser is the racist 99 percent of the time.

I think there are very few people who actually hate or even dislike people because of their skin color. The problem with racism now is that it goes beyond acceptance and live and let live, at least in the US.

Now that doesn't seem to be enough. If I disagree with Obama, I'm a racist, if I like Trump's policies (not words) I'm a racist.. If I want border control, I'm a racist.

It's over the top. I know you are talking about something different, but I feel all of the above is leading to the racial clashing becoming worse instead of better.

I love the blockchain... It doesn't care about color, nationality nor gender and neither do I.

I do agree with you on this as people get labelled very quickly for having a view. Having witnessed both sides in a country that has had extremes of hatred I just don't get it as most of the stuff is petty and people are looking for things that are just not there.
