I realize that finding these things is a pretty scary thing and all but i tend to look at it from the perspective of that it was dropped from a great height many many many years ago and didn't detonate then.... What are the chances that would happen now? I'm not suggesting that old ordinance has never accidentally been detonated, but seriously. Statistically, what are the chances?

There is still a very high chance. The three mentioned in the post were diffusing and it detonated killing them. Today when you walk around the battlefields you have to stick to the pathways and any dogs have to be on leashes. The ordnance team responsible in France regularly lose members due to the dangers they face. The explosive is still there ,but may have a faulty detonator. Some were definitely duds, but you can't tell.
