Dangerous Drivers

Motorsports are dangerous in general, I don't think there's one that is not dangerous, no matter how many wheels does that vehicle have. At that speed any move is dangerous, you have to have experience in order to avoid accidents and even with years and years of experience bad things happen.

In a sport like Formula One, where there are twenty or so cars racing and the course is not that wide so all the cars can pass at once getting ahead of another car is difficult, sometimes impossible. This is why drivers try everything, every little trick, even though most of these tricks are dangerous.

There were a couple of drivers who would have done anything in order to win, sometimes putting other drivers life in danger. One of them was Juan Pablo Montoya, the Colombian-American racing driver who's been in Formula One from 2001 to 2006. Back then I was a big F1 fan, watching every race possible.

I remember Pablo Montoya, he came like a hurricane, he was considered some kind or miracle, people thought he's going to be the new king of F1, maybe replace Michael Schumacher. That didn't happen though.

Some say Montoya wasn't lucky as while racing for Williams, he had a lot of car troubles. I'm not an expert, don't know what's happened, we only know what we're told and that may not be always the truth but I believe some of these troubles were due to his way of driving. There were a few cases when because of his driving style others had to suffer because he's crashed their car as well, not only his. One may argue that it happens in car racing but some of these accidents could have been avoided, maybe.

The other driver who I want to nominate was Michael Schumacher himself. He is a big champion, no one can deny that but his methods has not always been clean and honest. Let's not forget the 1994 Australian Grand Prix when after damaging his car and knowing he has no chance of winning, he intentionally (I'd say) collided with Damon Hill and took him out of the race. He has managed to get away with it as there were no actions taken against him but the public thinks otherwise, myself included. He won the championship and could take home the title but at what cost?

At the 1997 European Grand Prix at Jerez Michael Schumacher hit Villeneuve's car. Despite of the accident Villeneuve was able to finish in third place but after two weeks Schumacher was disqualified from the entire 1997 Drivers' Championship due to his maneuver. Unfortunately there were many ugly incidents like this over the years.

This is done in business as well, they say if you can't be better, destroy the other and you are a winner. I don't agree with this, I believe in clean methods, one should never engage in such activity but no matter what I or anyone else thinks, there will always be drivers like these two.
