My Acti-Kwai Report Card: October 29 2019

(Edited)

Took a ride up to the fringes of Khao Yai national park on Saturday afternoon on my new bike to give her a run out and get a feel for her.

Number plate hasn't come yet so had to be careful and look out for the rozzers but we did the 300km trip without issue...except it rained for the first time in nearly a week. Odd, because it's actually the rainy season. Bike got filthy and I spent part of Sunday washing the damn thing and attempting to retain that 'new' look a little longer.

The water buffalo were loving it and if I'm honest, I also fancied a wallow in the cool mud which leads me onto my next top tip for Steemfest visitors which is don't call people 'Kwai' which is buffalo in Thai, and definitely don't use your hands at the side of your head to look like horns as you say it. This is very rude and illicits a swift and angry response....or if you're feeling a little mischevious and brave however, it can also be quite funny ;-)

Have a great day ;-)

Is this the same park that has the giant waterfalls? We have some gushers up here in the north but I remember hearing something about the falls from 'The Beach' being located here.

There certainly are some great waterfalls in Khao Yai and scenery and a good chance of seeing wild elephants but it doesn't match the scenery between you and Pai.

Hoping to get up there around Christmas on the bike to do Chiang Mai to Pai and beyond.
It's been a few years since I've been up North.

sadly, after living here for 8 months I haven't made my way over to Pai yet. I have been to a few of the parks nearer the city but it isn't so easy for me to take day trips because of the dog. I know i could check her into a kennel but i hate those places. :)

Yes , it's difficult with a dog because public transport and taxis are a nightmare when it comes to taking pets.
I had it in my head you'd been there much longer so how are you enjoying living there? I know Chiang Mai a little as my wife was at Uni there so we have been up a few times to conference and such.
