Se acabó el "small ball" en Houston... / "Small Ball" in Houston is over... (esp/eng) @joseantpp

Hello! Today I want to write about the Westbrook-Wall trade of the week (at the very least) in the NBA, first of all i personally think that it was a low trade value for one of the only two players that have accomplished a triple-double seasons in the NBA´s history, it´s not about John Wall playing but his health, hes been out of the league for about two years and is unknown how is going to perform.
This definitely ends with houston´s experiment of small-ball basketball that they carried in the second half of last season with a starting five of Westbrook, Harden, House, Covington, and a 6,5” center in Tucker, this was at the moment to maximize their guards capabilities, above all Westbrook´s, whose game characterize to play around the ring with his explosive penetrations, rebounding ability an low three point shooting percentage.
To get the small-ball experiment Houston traded them center Clint Capela to the Hawks in a three way trade that brought Robert Covington in order to get a versatile team, with the three-point shoot as their trademark with their point guard as their main weapon inside.
And of course this was not only about Westrook but the duo thy had with him and James Harden one of the most complete offensive players in today´s NBA, combining that duo with tenacious defenders and great three point shooters was an all or nothing bet, that crash against Lakers, eventual champions who defeated them in the road to the title. I always thought it was kind of a thought move to make, tome Houston needed more a Robin Lopez ´s type of center (a big intimidator in defense, with a three-point shoot) than Tucker´s and the small-ball”
Well, with a change in the Rockets directive General Manger Morey left the team, this off-season, they already have signed two center Woods from Detroit capable to floor spacing who comes from a really good season and a injury prime Cousins who two years ago was a top center in the league.
Now with Wall the starting five is projected as: Wall, Harden, House, Tucker, Woods y Cousins as a big coming from the bench. (the former center is becoming a forward), if Wall and Cousins gets to 70% of their prime level this is a playoff team but that´s a big what if.
On the Wizards side they just traded an injury point guard for a player with a very high performance level in Westbrook but questioned in his way of play the game. Only time will tell who won the trade but Houston definitely abandoned “small-ball”.
