My Father - Firearms

My father passed away over 20 years ago, but I still remember so much of what he taught me.

*My dad taught me how to handle a gun safely. Over the years I collected many guns. 44 magnum Ruger, Smith and Wesson 306 and 22, one of 2000 semi. 7 mm mag rifle. 12, 20, and 28 gauge shotguns. 9mm and many other handguns. My weapon of choice for hunting the bow and arrow.

As we read the news about so many bad things with gun ownership, I am positive these stories have a political slant. Most police officers that I know advise that a homeowner have a firearm in the home for security. Most of the politicians that are against private gun ownership have armed security details and many a pistol in the desk drawer or near where they sleep. When I was 13 years old, my friends and I would be in the woods together, carrying our loaded shotguns. We never thought about killing people. We never pointed our guns at each other or shot in an unsafe direction. We had parents that taught us gun safety.

Some of my fondest memories of my father and brother come from our times together dear hunting or target practicing.

Thank you for reading. Just a short introduction.

They call me Daddy William

I also was raised with freely available firearms. I hit my first shotgun when I was 12. The only things I've ever shot were birds and varmints. We ate the birds. The dogs hit everything else.

It is good to have family that teaches us the the value of life and proper gun safety. My dad also taught us to eat what we hunted.
