A Terrible Injury Illustrates The Best And The Worst Aspects Of Football

During the Packers vs Eagles game last night there was a horrific head injury. Avonte Maddox of the Eagles collided with a teammate and the impact was violent and directly on his helmet. After the play he laid on the field for several minutes until a stretcher took him off.

It is still unknown how severe the injury is and of course we hope that he is ok. Collisions like that are a part of football. It is getting safer and safer but there is still an inherent risk of injury every time the players step into the field.

When an injury like that occurs it is fascinating to see how emotional and supportive the other players are. As you can see from the photo there are players from both teams praying and supporting him. That’s the camaraderie between these players. All of them hope that these type of injuries never happen and each one of them know that it is possible to have a terrible injury every single play.
