My cousin was on a skateboard, towed by his neighbour on a bike. It got too quick and scary so he jumped off and landed funny. Broke his shin in two places. They lived close to us, so the neighbour came and got mum, who called an ambulance. The only ice in our freezer was from me mucking around; I'd filled a dishwashing glove with water and frozen it.
The ambos arrived, and were joking around about him feeling the icy hand of death.

Now that's the sort of childhood story I remember. These days it's all about how many levels they got to on Fortnight. (Or some such game). Ah, the good old days when kids broke bones whilst out playing. 😂
