Spain started the game as the better side but it was Croatia who got a shock lead when Pedri pass back to keeper who miss controlled the ball and lead to own goal.

Luis Enrique's men recovered from Simón’s calamitous error and in the 37th minute, they were level. José Gayà unleashed a fierce strike which was parried into the path of Pablo Sarabia who expertly fired in the rebound. Ten minutes into the second half, Spain were ahead. Ferran Torres’ pinpoint cross found fullback Azpilicueta at the back post who nodded his nation into the lead.

15 minutes from time, Ferran Torres was at the heart of it again as he raced through on goal before cooly slotting through Livaković’s legs. Croatia looked dead and buried but were reinvigorated late on when substitute Mislav Oršić scrapped home after goal-line technology intervened. Oršić ensured his finish was not just a consolation as he turned provider moments later with a devilishly whipped in cross for fellow substitute Mario Pašalić to head in the equaliser in stunning fashion, sending the game into extra

Croatia were understandably re-energised in ET with Simón forced into an incredible close-range save from Andrej Kramarić, who should have scored. And, boy would he pay for it as the much-maligned Álvaro Morata, minutes later, smashed the ball home on the half volley for his first goal at the Euros, to give Spain. Mikel Oyarzabal added another two minutes later ensuring Spain became the first side in Euros history to score five goals in back-to-back games, sending them through to the quarter-finals in the process while the match ended in 5-3 after extra time

LoL stubbornness you call it, well I will say a hit game of challenge, Croatia really played well despite they lost.

I love Croatia courage because they did not loss hope they played to equalize the goal even to the last of the time.

Congratulations to SPAIN for qualifying to quarter finals, I know they will win but I never imagined they will score up to 5 goals against Croatia.

Spain proved they are better than Croatia. Even after the tragic Croatian tie, they managed to play well in the extra time and score the necessary goals. Spain is looking good now after their weak start of the tournament. They are scoring a lot of goals and I really hope we can see them against Italy in the semifinals, but first, they need to defeat their rivals in the quarter finals.

This was quite a thrilling match. Stopped following around 76 minutes when it was 3-1 only to check my phone later on to see Croatia returned two before 90mintues. Sadly for them they still ended up losing 5-3 at extra time after trying to do a comeback.

Congratulations to Spain for making it into the quarter final. Now they face world champions slayer Switzerland who surprisingly clipped them in the 2010 world cup group stage. Would they do it against? Guess we will find out on Friday

Spain left us with a tremendous game, no doubt about it, 5 goals? that's an incredible amount for a game that looked like it was going to be a marvel.
