That is going to be tough. Like I was saying a couple days ago, PSG is quite active on the transfer market, and they will for sure want to get the title back. And Lille just got a new coach Jocelyn Gourvennec to replace Christophe Galtier (he went to Nice). They both have different styles, and it could change the team dynamic, at least early in the new season.
The Trophee des Champions played on August 1. in Tel Aviv against PSG might give us some first impressions

Definitely Paris club as been active and they have been enough to strengthen their squad come next season with the acquisition of Sergio Ramos and others too, they will be a force to be reckoned with in Europe come next season

In Europe sure, but in French Ligue 1 definitely. They were kind of vexed not finishing champions last year, as it's usually expected of them. They probably won't let that happen twice in a row

I highly doubt we will be seeing a repeat of last from Lille and the power house Paris Saint Germain seems to making great buys in the summer transfer windows. I expect PSG to comfortably reclaim their position in the league as French Champions.

Exactly. PSG not winning last year was an anomaly, and I don't expect it to happen again this year. They will make sure of that. Of course, like we all say often, everything can happen in football, but with 38 matches in the season, that's a tough one.

Yeah. Guess Paris Saint Germain also got complacent last season and Lille was just there to capitalize on that. I expect a large point margin this time against their opponents.

It's French soccer/football. Lille had a great season last year in Ligue 1 and finished Champions against all odds. Friendly matches to prepare the new season (first games early August) are just starting now.

In Tour de France today, Cavendish wins again! That is his 4th win in this year Tour, and 34th in all Tour de France. He's now tied with Eddy Merckx for the record. With at least a couple more stages left in this Tour that might end up with a sprint, he could beat that record very soon.
For the general classification, no changes today, all the favorites had a quiet day (if we consider riding 220km quiet 😉)

Yes, I do believe he can break it this year itself. Like I said, at least a couple more days with flat terrain and high probability to be decided with a mass sprint. And this year, he seems almost unbeatable, like he was a few years ago. He also has great teammates always bringing him for the final sprint in perfect conditions (today, one of them was so good at bringing him almost till the end, he actually finished second). It would be a career highlight for him to win the last stage at the Champs Elysees again (he won it 4 times in a row from 2009 to 2012). He's 36, he might not get many other chances later.

One more comment, something that Cavendish actually discussed today in interviews. Even if he breaks the record, it would be very different from Merckx' record. All Cavendish' wins are mass sprints while Merckx was much more versatile, he won time trials, mountains stages, everything. Merckx also won the general classification 5 times, while Cavendish never had any ambition for the general classification, only the green jersey (best sprinter). In short, 2 great riders, but very different and not comparable.
