Is 42m Euro for Houssem Aouar a good deal?

We're being linked to talented players and then to cap it off, we're actually bringing them into the club. I can't remember the last time I felt this level of positivity about Arsenal in terms of transfers.

Different outlets are reporting what we've all suspected for a long time; Houssem Aouar is on his way to Arsenal. We all know transfer news is mostly garbage, and I generally don't get excited over transfers until something concrete has materialised. However, there's no smoke without fire and if we can actually pull this deal, it will be pretty sweet.

Who is Houssem Aouar?

Well, he's one of the most talented players in Europe these days and you might remember him from the just-concluded Champions League. He was part of the Lyon team that knocked Manchester City out of the competition and also gave eventual winners a tough time in the semi-final.

He's of Algerian descent but plays for the French U21 national team and can play basically anywhere in midfield. He's still only 22 years old, so despite showing so much promise, he still has loads of potential in the bag.

Getting him into the team is a proper statement of intent by the management, and an important step in the right direction. I suspect he will take most of the creative duties in midfield if he joins the team.

The transfer fee rumoured for him is in the 35-42m Euro range, and judging by the sums that have been flying around lately, I'd say that's a fair price. If this signing goes through, it is safe to say that Torreira will definitely be leaving the team and maybe either of Guendouzi or Elneny who seems adamant on fighting for his place in the team.

We're putting together a big squad for this special season. We'll need everyone to be fit and firing on all cylinders, so squad rotation will be a constant. How do you think we will do this season? Are you optimistic? Have your say in the comment section. Until we meet again, up the Arsenal.

I think his a good player and in the current market of prices yes he is worth the money especially for a team that is in desperate need for more flair and consistency in their midfield and one that paid 72 mil for Pepe

But in terms of fundamental value no I think its way overpriced, this entire football market is basically a tax shelter and a way to launder money through player sales and its getting out of hand

The amount of money they throw around so casually gets my head spinning. People are so comfortable with spending hundreds of millions on just football?
People have defended it by saying that it is just business and that the players are worth that amount but I'm like, well, it is still a shit ton of money, you know? !ENGAGE 50

That’s because most people don’t get how money works and why this is just a showcase of how grossly broken the financial system us and sport is just way to get normal people to support this so they feel part of the scam even though it doesn’t benefit them

As a football fan it’s great that they get it to more people and share the joy with the world but the value is way over inflated but it will all come crashing down

I see the PL have to bail out the entire EPL now

It depends though. The football clubs are deriving new ways to get the money from the fans and through marketing. I don't know how sustainable it is but it is pretty fucking incredible.

Anyways, it's not coming out of my pocket and so I ain't worried. We're going to sign a dope ass midfielder and that's awesome.
