It sucks when your football team sucks - Carolina edition

As a Carolina Panthers fan it seems as though we go through year after year of hope and promises of improvement only to have everything fall apart. Years ago we were a fine team, and we have made it to the Super Bowl on multiple occasions only to fall short. The most disappointing of which was where we went into the Super Bowl an undefeated, seemingly unstoppable force, only to lose the big dance in what was a boring and frustrating experience for Carolina fans.

This slogan has always made me laugh

It becomes difficult to remain a fan and lately, I haven't even been able to watch all of a game because it just makes me made to watch my team make the same mistakes over and over and nobody seems to be learning anything along the way.

When you play Tampa Bay, a team that isn't even that good and will be lucky to make the playoffs and then receive a double up score 46-23 thrashing at their hands, it doesn't make you feel very good about your team especially when things were looking pretty good in the first half.

I don't mind Tom Brady having a good game unless it is again us :) The thing that kills me is the amount of turnovers in the second half. There is one sure way to make a fan of any team demoralized and that is to be constantly turning the ball over and of course allowing 3 touchdowns is hard for anyone to bounce back from.

And here is the part that really gets to me. We use ALL of our draft picks to get defensive players in the 2020 draft, that was supposed to be our new big thing. It was I think one of the only times in history that a team has used all of their draft picks on defensive players. Yet here we are, ranked 17th or so in the league as far as points allowed per game. We were supposed to be one of the best defensive teams in all of the NFL, yet we just look pathetic out there.

Before the pre-season there were multiple pundits claiming that the Panthers are going to be a tough team to beat this year as they compared our upcoming defense to legendary defenses of the past. Well, that didn't exactly pan out did it?

We haven't even been in the playoffs for 5 years and I suppose it is a good thing that almost no one is allowed to go to the games at the moment because I would imagine they would be experiencing a drop in ticket sales. It is just entirely too frustrating to watch your team suck year after year.

We are currently 4-8 and it would take an absolute miracle for us to make it to the playoffs this year. It may already be mathematically impossible, I honestly don't know at this point and I am starting to not care. The only game we have won in our last 7 was against the Detroit Lions and honestly, that isn't much of an accomplishment. As bad as i feel about our team, Lions fans are probably feeling even worse.

If I were the coach of the Panthers I would just try to fend of injury for the rest of the season, because of the 4 games remaining in the regular season, I would be surprised if we win 1 of them. We got Denver at home on the 14th and they are just as bad as we are which is ironic because they were the team that defeated us in Super Bowl 50, when all the oddsmakers were giving Carolina massive advantages. If we lose that game on the 14th, I don't think I will even bother to watch the rest of the season.

Hey @beelzebubba, your team has been dealt some pretty tough blows this year, that’s for sure. Biggest for sure is not having CMC for the full season.

Second, I’m a big fan of Teddy. Was very happy when my Vikes drafted him and was very sad to see his injury happen as I knew we wouldn’t ride it out with him. He will win a lot of games for you next year assuming CMC is back healthy.

3rd, when ya draft a ton of rookies, the chances of just one of them contributing worthwhile snaps is very low. So give em a year or two and assess the 20’ draft then.

As a Vikes fan, I feel your pain brother. We might just sneak in this year, but boy has this covid crap really reaked havoc on any semblance of continuity for the entire NFL. Not to mention everything else.

I only see a few of my friends that are actually pleased with their teams this year. I'm gonna wait on this Steelers hype train because I'll never forget the year that my Panthers were undefeated, were heavily favored in the big dance and then lost.

KC fans are loving it again also but for me, I can't really even bear to watch Carolina games anymore bc it is just too frustrating.

Good points about the rookies for sure. I've just been down this path of "hope" so many times with the Panthers that I have become very pessimistic.

Yuck, y'all lost to the Broncos this week, that's pretty painful man, I will admit. Lock should be a good QB in the future, but their team is just a dumpster fire right now, that's a tough loss.

But, hey, what can I say, we just got smoked by Tampa. Played really well the first half, then we did typical Vikings things and apparently didn't pay the refs as much as the Bucs did.

Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers get ALL the PI calls, it's such a joke.

well hey, at least your boys beat mine... by one point! I don't think it was necessary to pay the refs that much or at all when you are against Carolina though. It looked like the Vikings were trying to give it away until the 4th Q though.
