Remembering Salvador Sanchez 🥊

We have many boxing greats in the game and it won't be fair if we exclude this boxing beast named Salvador Sanchez, he was born a champion.

Sanchez debuted at a time when the world was shocked to see Joe Frazier's corner throw in the towel against Muhammad Ali. A confusing moment when Carlos Monzón left us a knockout void from that time. The collision of Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran.

Now could we ever imagine the name like Sanchez would even ring a bell during that time, hell yeah he was around doing his thing also and for a prospect back then, it is almost impossible to make a place among the greats, unless you are Salvador Sánchez.

The perfect image of the nice subject, who can beat anyone down with his fists. And it is that in his short seven years of professionalism, this Mexican makes it clear how hard featherweights hit. With tremendous KO effectiveness on his record, a high boxing IQ based on kickback and a very, very enviable adversary resume. It is not for less, but Sánchez at the time faced three future halls of fame: the devastating Coloradito Lopez (x2), the greatest African exponent Azumah Nelson and Wilfredo Gomez, legend of Puerto Rico.

Eight defenses to the title where those already named are part of them. His trajectory is based on crushing his opponents, the way he dismantled the figures of the moment was absurd. The smiling Mexican marks the new limit of boxing, conditioned by an inexhaustible cardio, a neat and fast footwork, orthodox posture, heavy hands and, if that were not enough, what would be his "special ability" to kick back.

Sánchez seemed invincible and at 23 he already has the aura of a legend, his ability and how he applied it to opponents of the elite level, was what made him consecrate himself at the top of boxing. The most notorious victory over Puerto Rico brought him fame, and his presence threatens those around his division. Is there anything else he hasn't done?

Once again, by forcefully defeating his tough rivals, Sánchez became the new champion to beat and the most dangerous. Everyone knows he didn't fuck with Sanchez, if there were going to be rivals to challenge him, these should be the best. For this reason, a certain Alexis Arguello appears on the scene. With no rival in his division, the Nicaraguan seems to be the one chosen for the super fight. Unfortunately Salvador Sanchez passed away before this could take place.

A humble young man from a peasant family in Mexico who reached the top, who at only 23 years old did not need any credentials to be a sports figure. A notoriety so early and so impressive, that it earned him the Hall of Fame years after his death.

Without a doubt, the greatest "he had ever been" in boxing. But, if you allow me, the level that Sánchez demonstrated and all the merits of him, in my humble opinion, places him among the best of the Libra by Libra in history.
