I know many fans wouldn't be so familiar with this name but trust me he should be up there with legends of boxing because I believe Rubén “El Púas” Olivares is one of the greatest champions to come out of Mexico and one of the most loved and respected, not only by his compatriots, but by all Latinos who love boxing. He was a very good fighter, with a huge punch and aggressiveness on the Ring, which made him legendary and much feared in his era. He managed to be multiple world champion, he retired with more than 100 professional fights, for many he is the best bantamweight of all time and for others, at least he is among the three best in history, which is not an understatement. Of his 89 wins, 78 were by KO, which gives an indication of the power of his fists.

His two streaks, one of 22 and the other of 21 consecutive KOs, are among the longest achieved by any fighter and in 2003 “The Ring” ranked him 12th among the greatest knockouts in boxing history. Since 2010 he is deservedly a Boxing Hall of Fame, when he was inducted in Canastota, NY and went on to join the select group of the greatest among the greats. Olivares has extensive experience, a long career and has faced all kinds of boxers, including big names, here he briefly tells us the best of his rivals according to his own vision and feeling, above the ring.
