It's that time of year!
With the weather turning a little more brisk at night and the pre-season in full swing that can mean only one thing! Football season is almost here. That means you are going to be seeing a lot more of the image above tied to posts from this account.
In addition to that, I am also working on the finishing touches of my family fantasy league. I still haven't decided if I am going to post from this account for that or from my main account like I have in the past.
There are going to be some definite changes this year when it comes to our league. In the past, it was only 8 of us and the grand prize at the end of the season consisted of a fifth of liquor bought by each of the losers. Not a bad deal, but it was getting a bit ho-hum. Plus, if you remember correctly, I sucked at it and by the end of last season I was sick of having to buy everyone else liquor all the time.
I am hoping the changes this year will give me a little better luck. At the very least, it might be a little easier on my pocketbook.
I talked to my wife about it and I decided to add four more teams to the league this year. Our four oldest nieces and nephews will be joining the ranks of family fantasy football players. Of course, since we now have minors in the league, I decided to change the prize rules.
Starting this year, whoever wins the whole shebang gets a $10 giftcard from each of the losers. They can get it to any store of their choosing. This means at the end of the season the winner will have $110 in gift cards to enjoy. Hopefully some of them will be to their favorite places or for their favorite things. I also hope some of them will be something new that they haven't tried or enjoyed yet and that ends up becoming a new favorite for them.
Like I said, it can be to a store, restaurant, for iTunes, coffee, nothing is off the table. Well for the most part nothing is off the table. They are minors after all.
I am excited about this new direction that our league is going to take. Probably more excited than I am about real football so far. I haven't read anything about how good or bad the Michigan State team is going to be this year. I have also watched a total of one quarter of one Detroit Lions pre-season game and they lost it.
Not a lot to be excited about there, but it is the preseason, so you never know what might happen....
