NCAA Men's Basketball Top 25 Recap

Well, Pixabay seems to be down, so this week you get a recycled picture from one of my nieces basketball games. The subject is still going to be the same though... Men's college basketball recap.

Let's dig in!

Monday gave us three games and one of them was Gonzaga back in action. They put the hammer down on BYU, nothing really surprising there.

Monday gave us some upsets too!

Unranked Kansas over #23 Oklahoma State. That one doesn't really surprise me either. Kansas is a school with a top tier basketball program. It isn't uncommon to see them in the Sweet 16 or Final Four. This has definitely been a season that has thrown many of the top programs for a loop. I think there are a fair share of them who are trying to claw their way back to the top 25. This is a very unfamiliar position for many of them.

Tuesday had six games scheduled, but only four of them were played. There was only one upset and it was a #14 team taking down a #7 team when West Virginia beat Texas Tech by eleven points.

I have a feeling that Florida State/Virginia Tech game could have been pretty good, so you might want to try and keep an eye out for it to be rescheduled.

Michigan State played on Tuesday night even though they are not ranked. They were playing pretty well against Penn State, but they only managed to win the game by two points. Pretty pathetic. Even though they were up by quite a bit, they still weren't looking that great. They have a lot of work if they are going to make it to the post season.

Probably the most exciting game of the night was my nieces final home game of the season. The varsity team she plays for was able to clinch the conference title. I am so proud of her.

Baylor took the lazy way out again on Wednesday and didn't play a game but still retained their ranking (I am just kidding, I know it's Corona's fault!).

Fourteen other teams did play and those seven games only gave us one upset. Ole Miss took down #10 Missouri in what I can only guess was a very off night for the Tigers. They only scored 59 points which feels really uncommon for a team that is in the top 10 nationwide.

In good news, my secondary team Tennessee seems to be back on track and they had a nice win over Georgia. I'd like to see them get some wins against ranked teams here in the future.

Finally, last night gave us two games and probably the most exciting one happened in the Big 10 (of course)! Unranked Minnesota took down #24 Purdue. The Boilermakers have this seven foot something beast of a guy that basically just has to stand there and score. If they didn't have the three second rule in the paint, I can't imagine anyone would be able to beat Purdue.

Minnesota sure did though. Michigan State actually led Purdue most of their game against until the end where they blew a huge lead.

U of M continues to dodge the bullet as well had has a #3 ranking even though they really haven't been playing. Like Baylor and Gonzaga, they are a good team as much as I hate to admit it. You really have no idea how annoying it is to see the Michigan faithful brag about their team in my Facebook feed. At least when Spartan fans brag we do it in a classy way. The stuff these guys put out is just trash. :)

One Big 10 game on the books for tonight and then lots of stuff coming at you on Saturday. Check back Monday for my recap of everything that happened.

Resting on my laurels from my big Super Bowl bet win I didn't bet on any college games this week, but I will probably change that this weekend. Fingers crossed I can rake in some cash.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Sadly they are getting beat by about 19 points right now, so there isn't too much to brag about at all...

Ha! As with everything else, the only real difference is whose ox is being gored. MSU fans have been looking down their noses at everyone for the last 20 years. I'm not saying you're one of them but....if you've been down and looking up for that long, it's only natural people are going to revel in it a little more than you might think "classy". If you're having a problem dealing with this, try being the other teams fans for 20 years (or more). Just sayin'....
