Looking at Rahul Sahu, who sells tea and samosa in a small hut in Farhad village adjoining the city, one would think of him as a normal shopkeeper. But what they are doing increases their respect in the hearts of knowledgeable people. Rahul is no less than Guru Dronacharya. During his college studies, Rahul has tried his hand at national level in archery. But when the game could not continue due to financial constraints, the children of the village started teaching archery. Rahul has so far led 43 children to national level archery competitions. Three of these medals have also been won.

If he could not grow himself due to financial constraints, Rahul engaged in preparing an army of archers.

While attending college, in 2012, Rahul participated in the All India University Archery competition held in Patiala (Punjab).

He did not get any medal, but archery became a passion. Due to financial constraints, he could not continue his game himself, but due to attachment to archery, he started a campaign to connect school-college children with archery from 2013 itself.

He also teaches training in archery to children in schools and near the shop. He has trained archery to 100 children so far. Of these, 43 made it to national level competitions and have also won gold, silver and bronze medals. Rahul says that he could not prepare this game with the necessary resources as it should be done for national and international competitions.

All day work, morning and evening training

Being the eldest son of the house, Rahul has to share his hands with the elderly father in the hotel. They work in the hotel throughout the day and teach children archery skills in the morning and evening. There are about 40 Badho learning archery skills in one corner of the International Hockey Stadium complex. Impressed by the passion of the young archer, now the social organizations of the city are coming forward to help.

Achievements in his account

Rashmi Sahu won the gold medal in the 37th Sub Junior National Archery Championship held in Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar (Odisha) in 2016. In 2015, Parvati Sahu won a bronze medal in the 36th National Sub Junior Archery competition held in Goa. In the year 2019, Samridhi Tiwari has won a silver medal in CBSE National.
