Tottenham Hotspur have just been stunned in the Europa League after losing to Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 and 3-2 over the course of the two legs.
It is all going wrong for Jose Mourinho despite doing A good job at the start of the season and getting to A league cup final ever since then Tottenham have dropped off and failed to win games.
after the game, Jose came out and said "Spurs failed at basics of life"
"I can only apologise to the Tottenham supporters. I hope they feel the same way I feel. Today is live or die - and at this moment, we die."
I do feel sorry for Jose because he will get all the blame when in reality fans and pundits need to look beyond him why is it Tottenham haven't won A trophy since 2008 (the carling cup final)? it cant be solely on the manager.
Tottenham have had A variety of managers all of which play very different playstyles
Jose favours playing defensively with A lighting quick counter-attack, This tactic worked for him all over Europe with Porto, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea and more.
Pochettino is actually similar to Jose in terms of formation operating often with A 4-2-3-1, with A stronger emphasis on winning second balls and launching long passes into the channels in order to progress play similar to Jose but not playing quite as defensive and cautious as Jose.
ANDRE VILLAS BOAS is another manager who had A spell at Tottenham. He plays A more patient in possession type of game where he likes to slowly tear apart the opponent, He combines this with A high press up the field.
So is it really the manager's fault?
You could say Tottenham has A very strong front three and yes I would agree they are scoring lots of goals but with that, They are conceding just as many if not more
Fans begged Jose to not play so defensive and he listened he went toe to toe with Everton in the FA Cup it was A great game but they still lost it was entertaining to watch but they still lost.
Jose still has A trophy to fight for as well as A top 4 finish do not judge him yet judge him at the end of the season.
Would A trophy and A top 4 finish be classed as A success?
Yes, I think it would.
This concludes my post, Thanks for reading.
