So! The season 20/21 is over! And I really don't know how to rate this season. I'm torn between pride, joy, disappointment and sheer anger. I've never felt like this as long as I'm a Eintracht fan and member.

Briefly about today: Hütter is setting up a team that has never been on the field like this: Bördner, Hrustic, Zuber move into the starting eleven, Ilsanker plays with Hinti and N'Dicka in the back three. Chandler replaces Durm on the right. And this ragged group does it really well! Silva, Hrustic and Kamada have very good chances, but Freiburg is also not without its dangers. A really good kick, but it's no longer about anything. You can also see that: Our boys play really liberated. It is striking how good Hrustic is on the ball, how confidently he plays passes into the depths, how well he acts as a creative force. Why he didn't play more often remains a mystery ... It goes 0-0 into the break.
After the change, this young team will continue to play - and continue to do well! After a corner, a Freiburg resident fends off the ball with his hand. Penalty kick. Silva transforms his eighth penalty into a fantastic 1-0 lead. His 28th goal of the season. Sensational! The game goes on back and forth. Freiburg presses, the Eintracht can be tied up in their own penalty area. Chandler only accompanies, does not intervene, the cross pass is sunk. 1: 1. Annoying. Hütter takes Chandler out - who made a weak game - brings several new players: Tuta, Ache, Barkok, Touré. Barkok draws attention to himself with several great degrees, Kamada with several lost opportunities. But the changes bring something: Kostic with an outstanding free kick - Touré is perfect and nailed the ball volley into the net for renewed leadership. Then Eintracht has the game under control and plays the thing down. Kostic again with a dream flank from the left, Ache is bare and hits the thing like Touré volley into the goal. 3: 1! After that, the players gather with the coaching staff and the leadership on the field. I try to see in their faces who is saying goodbye, who is happy, who is sad ... And I have great sadness in me, because I'm afraid that we saw some players for the last time today at Eintracht ... Silva, Kostic, N'Dicka, Kamada - these players are heavily courted by big clubs and are almost certainly gone. We'll see what the squad planning looks like in the new season. But once again, Eintracht has to reinvent itself and put a new, powerful troop on its feet.
The conclusion of this season is also marked by melancholy: There was only one victory missing to safely participate in the CL, because Wolfsburg lost against Mainz today. Eintracht has only had 6 defeats in total, 2 of them against the relegated Schalke and Bremen. Eintracht didn't lose a single game at home. That is sensational. Eintracht pulverized all records: won in Mainz, won in Dortmund, made the third best storm with 69 goals, but also conceded as many goals as Hertha or Bielefeld with 53 goals conceded. 13 of them in the last 6 games! That was the crux of the matter.
Because Hütter announced his change 6 games ago. At this point we were still 7 points ahead of Dortmund. In these last 6 games, Eintracht only got 7 points! The direct link between the announcement and the crash is definitely obvious to anyone. And so the bitter aftertaste of a missed historic opportunity to place Eintracht in the elite of European clubs remains.

We say goodbye to Adolf Hütter to Gladbach with a lot of thanks and respect for his services to our association - but also with anger and disappointment in our guts about his decision and the time of his announcement. In any case, he will not play internationally with Gladbach and will have a lot of time to see Eintracht in the Europaleague on TV.
As always, Eintracht will accept the Europaleague! With euphoria, heart, passion and a lot of force. This EL is going to be very special because it is a disguised CL! Teams like Leicester, Juventus, Eindhoven, Benfica, Sevilla could be our opponents. We look forward to it! I hope that we can go back to the stadium soon - I hope that we can all support our eagles again and inspire Europe with amazement. It will be magical nights again in the Waldstadion - no matter who trains us in the future, no matter who is on the pitch.
There are still many unanswered questions about the new season. And the leadership of Eintracht has not shown itself to be confident in the last few weeks. Sports director Krösche still has a lot of work ahead of him: He has to sign a new coach, he has to compensate for the departures quickly and well, he has to try to keep top performers and get rid of ballast. Let's wait and see.
We will definitely stay tuned and will follow the next few weeks closely and report and evaluate here. It was also a turbulent and great season here on this side.
