Cyclism: the Giro d'Italia crosses my city

This year the Giro d'Italia was celebrated late compared to the usual May due to the outbreak of the epidemic in Italy and the organizers decided to postpone the event in October and yesterday 11 October the cyclists raced through the streets of my city of Trani.

Even if the crossing takes only a few minutes, the preparations are always so exciting and the city prepares itself by dyeing pink, the color of the jersey worn by the event champion. The preparations began a couple of weeks ago with the preparation of the roads and signs along the route.

During the early hours of yesterday morning an impressive array of police forces and auxiliary personnel were present along the road that would have seen the passage of the athletes in a few moments. All side streets have been closed temporarily in order to ensure maximum safety for cyclists.

A few minutes after arriving in the city, a parade of cars from the teams, organizers, sponsors and health personnel sped along the route, warning that within a few minutes the group would arrive in the city and therefore to be careful as the speed average in the plains and in the city reaches 50 km and the slightest contact with the athletes could cause an accident and consequent injury to the athletes.

The arrival of the jury's car indicated the start of the race and behind them, spaced a few tens of meters, the first cyclists ran incredibly fast. They looked like arrows and within 30 seconds even the last bike was hurtling in front of my eyes. A cheering and encouraging applause accompanied the crossing of the group of cyclists towards the continuation of the daily stage whose finish line was still over 100 km away.

Really a great emotion to watch the joy of the spectators and the little ones who cheered the athletes with amusement. Too bad it all ended so quickly but a really great day of sport was breathed throughout the day

Quest'anno il Giro d'Italia si è celebrato in ritardo rispetto al consueto maggio a causa dello scoppio dell'epidemia in Italia e gli organizzatori hanno deciso di posticipare la manifestazione ad ottobre e ieri 11 ottobre i ciclisti hanno corso per le strade della mia città di Trani.

Anche se la traversata richiede solo pochi minuti, i preparativi sono sempre entusiasmanti e la città si prepara tingendo di rosa, il colore della maglia indossata dal campione della manifestazione. I preparativi sono iniziati un paio di settimane fa con la preparazione delle strade e della segnaletica lungo il percorso.

Nelle prime ore di ieri mattina era presente lungo la strada una schiera impressionante di forze dell'ordine e personale ausiliario che avrebbe visto in pochi istanti il ​​passaggio degli atleti. Tutte le strade laterali sono state chiuse temporaneamente per garantire la massima sicurezza ai ciclisti.

Pochi minuti dopo l'arrivo in città, una sfilata di auto delle squadre, organizzatori, sponsor e personale sanitario ha accelerato lungo il percorso, avvertendo che nel giro di pochi minuti il ​​gruppo sarebbe arrivato in città e quindi fare attenzione alla velocità media in pianura e in città si raggiungono i 50 km e il minimo contatto con gli atleti potrebbe causare un incidente e conseguenti lesioni agli atleti.

L'arrivo della macchina della giuria ha indicato l'inizio della gara e alle loro spalle, distanziate di poche decine di metri, i primi ciclisti hanno corso incredibilmente veloci. Sembravano frecce e nel giro di 30 secondi anche l'ultima bici mi stava sfrecciando davanti agli occhi. Un applauso tifo e incoraggiante ha accompagnato l'attraversamento del gruppo di ciclisti verso il proseguimento della tappa quotidiana il cui traguardo era ancora ad oltre 100 km di distanza.

Davvero una grande emozione assistere alla gioia degli spettatori e dei piccoli che hanno acclamato divertiti gli atleti. Peccato che sia finito tutto così in fretta ma durante la giornata si è respirata una giornata di sport davvero fantastica
