The failure of not winning

The last UFC won by Juventus dates back to 1996, I remember well the final in Rome against Ajax, won on penalties but a match played really flawlessly against the very strong Dutch team. I was 13 years old and I was at a friend's house, we both wore the black and white shirt, actually I had the second blue shirt with two yellow stars on the shoulder. I still remember the shouts of joy at Fabrizio Ravanelli's goal for the Juventus advantage and Litmanen's desperation to equalize, the long overtime and finally the penalties and Juventus taking home the cup. How many emotions and how many good memories.

25 years have passed and unfortunately the Juventus team has no longer been able to replicate this important success, despite often having gone very close but losing 3 finals. Is it evident that there is really something wrong with the company or is it something else? The club has really invested a lot and perhaps too much in some players but at European level there has never been a response of this magnitude that justified all this.

My opinion, in truth not only mine, is that the level of Italian football has really impoverished, it is no longer that of the 90s and the fact that Juventus has won 9 consecutive league titles in the last 9 years proves it. It is not Juventus that are stronger but it is the other teams that are weaker. All this is reflected on an average competitive level not up to the standard of the other European championships. In the 90s the Italian championship was considered the most difficult ... Today the German, Spanish and English ones are really much more competitive and even more interesting to follow.

The Agnelli family has shown that they invest heavily in society, from infrastructures such as the new stadium and the museum and the entire commercial network around it, to players such as Ronaldo, Higuain and many others. Some argue that there is a corporate problem but I honestly disagree. My humble opinion is that I would compensate the players based on their performance and the results achieved. Too much money really makes you lose any stimulus. It's not football, it's pure stock market. An evil evolution of the sport that was once considered the most beautiful in the world.

Personally, my interest in football has really waned, today I limit myself to reading a few articles occasionally and I no longer follow any matches, with the exception of some European competitions such as the UEFA Champions League. However, I keep my faith, albeit reduced, in Juventus. Many years of cheering cannot be canceled also because they are linked to many beautiful moments in my life, playing in the company of my friends, my father and even a few games with my wife. After all, football is this: moments of serenity with the people you love
