Euro 2020 Sunday 1/8 Finals Previews

I am following the European Football Championship making previews on all matches while having some fun betting small stakes.

Saturday was quite disappointing overall as both the matches that were not the most exciting and the limited betting action I had going which on top resulted in a 0.1 unit loss. Sunday is set out to be (hopefully) much more interesting with Netherlands & Belgium playing their matches.

Netherlands vs Czech Republic

The Netherlands took 3 clear wins in their group stage playing a quite offensive style while at the same time showing vulnerability in defense. They are unbeaten in their last 7 matches and have scored 2 or more in their last 10 matches. In all 3 matches, the Netherlands had the home advantage and will now have to play in the Puskas Arena doing some traveling. The Czech Republic took the 3 points playing 2-0 against Scotland followed by a 1-1 draw against Croatia and a 1-0 Loss against England. Overall, their games have not been most exciting, and based on all the statistics, The Netherlands deserves to be the favorite in this matchup. As seen with Italy yesterday, there is no guarantee for a team that played well in the group stage to do the same this round, and The Netherlands not having the home advantage this time might certainly be a factor. With the forward play-style and scoring power of the Dutch who also looked vulnerable on defense, I went with a tiny initial bet of 0.05 units on Both To Score @1.928 with the intention to possibly add on the over in-game. Should be an interesting match.

Belgium vs Portugal

Belgium was unbeaten in the Group stage but played a rather poor 1st half against Denmark needing their individual player class to take the win in the 2nd half. Belgium has scored at least 1 in each of their last 33 matches but they aren't a lock in the defense conceding in 5 of their last 10 matches. They tend to be a team that wins with big margins over smaller teams while having it more difficult against bigger teams. The match will be played in Sevilla where the weather will still be hot while the pitch won't be the best. Portugal was unable to break the Hungary Defense until very late in the match despite being the better team still scoring 3 which gave an exaggerated score. They got crushed by Germany showing to be vulnerable in defense end drew 2-2 in a match against France which was a score both were fine with in the end. Ronaldo has been in great form scoring 5 already now being 1 goal away from becoming the all-time International Top Striker. Belgium is made the small favorite in this match which seems fair while it's hard not to see goals in this one given the offensive quality of both sides who also have shown to be vulnerable in defense. Portugal is no longer the team building a wall as shown in their most recent results. The market seems to be divided on the total line whith a sharp move on the under followed by a sharp move on the over. I'm lining goals myself but need some market confirmation first and I also need to have the 1-1 score covered. So I already took a tiny initial 0.05 unit position on Both To Score @ 1.859 with an option for more in-game action on the over at least covering that score. I'm also tempted to take some Belgium +0 but I'm quite biased so I'll stay away for now. I'm highly looking forward to this match!

Great preview . I expect today to also more exciting. BTS seems like a very good option for both matches as I expect each to register atleast a goal when they fall off

Both BTS bets, unfortunately, ended up failing further confirming how low scoring these tournaments generally are. The first goal usually by far is the hardest in most matches

Well surprising none of them did. Guess it's one of those days. True about first goal. Also, the team who register a goal 1st most times tend to win the match

I wasn't expecting Belgium to defeat Portugal but I did expect a very even match. Portugal deserved a better result to be honest but football is like that. Belgium will now face Italy and I believe Italy will be the winner in that exciting match. They have been the best team so far and I don't see Belgium defeating them.

I found Belgium to play really mature not blindly going forward, looking at the game stats Portugal didn't deserve the loss though but like you say, that's football. I already took 0.1 unit on Belgium +0 @ 2.55 for the match against Italy just when the odds were released (now trading at 2.34). I'm expecting another quite close match with no team that should be a big favorite (at least if injuries are no major factor).
