Playoffs Week 7 Sunday & Belgian Cup Preview

Saturday was a classic day where I went a bit bigger on my stakes after picking up some good confidence the past months only to get crushed on them losing around 1 units which puts me back in the red on the week with 3 more games to go and likely more caution again. Today there are 2 Playoff matches and also the cup final is played in the early evening.

Club Brugge vs Anderlecht

The cup final is a match between Club Brugge who are a couple classes better than Anderlecht who will hope that a form of the day and luck will be on their side today. Anderlecht has had their eye on this match for quite some time and prepared properly for it. In their last encounter in the first week of of the playoffs Club Brugge won easily but the gap between both teams has become smaller. Anderlecht also was able to field their entire B-Squad against Antwerp away and still managed to win it. Brugge in the mid-week came behind somehow against AA Gent but easily managed to turn it around with a 4.09-1.75xg match. I can see Anderlecht taking a good start and feeding on their willingness to work hard which sooner or later will fade away and the class difference over 90 minutes making Club Brugge into the winner. I took 2 initial small bets with an eye to take more in-game if it stays a draw for long or especially in case Anderlecht would make the first goal. 0.1 unit each on Club Brugge Team Total Over 1.5 @ 1.920 & Club Brugge -1.5 @ 3.182.

Standard vs Charleroi

Charleroi is in the lead in playoff 2 and are still with plenty of motivation while Standard had nothing to play for really. That aside from the fact that this is a rivalry game but it only will be able to get them that far I would say as the stadium these days is half empty. The thing with Charleroi is that when they swing they are really good but that isn't always the case. So form of the day of them and the willingness of Standard to make something of it will be the key factors. My only real option is to back Charleroi but I do expect an motivated Standard at the start which likely will fade away. So no rush for me to get in and it's not that the -0.25 away favorite line is that soft. No Pre-Game Bets

Sint-Truiden vs Beerschot

Beerschot has nothing left to plat for and mainly are still able to load themselves up in their home matches. They usually still start well in the away games but the lack in focus also makes them get plenty of goals against. Stvv are 2 points behind on Cercle Brugge and have everything in their own hands again if they manage to win today. Pretty much the odds feel spot on for a 2-1 or 3-1 result which feels the most likely. That is also what I took with 0.05 units each on Correct Score 2-1 @ 9.461 & Correct Score 3-1 @ 12.303

For my club "Kaiserslautern" today a derby in Karlsruhe, 3 matches to go and we need to win, that only counts but will be a tough one.

I see it ended in a tough 2-2 draw. Crazy how many teams that used to be big (and maybe still are) are in the 2. Bundesliga. Schalke, Humburg, Herta Berlin, ...

Standard vs. Charleroi wasn't as bad as I thought, a lack of effectiveness prevented a few more goals, but Charleroi ultimately won. With three matches remaining, they have everything they need to win their group. Cheers, very good post, and I hope you had good luck!

I should have gone with Standard Team total under on that one, really sad to see what they have become as a former top team.
