How It Should Be

The Hungarian Grand Prix finished on Sunday late afternoon. The racing teams have to stay in their bubbles to guarantee racing this season. If one person tests positive for Covid then that entire bubble has to self quarantine. With everyone's livelihood at stake it makes perfect sense for now.

After the race I was watching Ted Kravitt's note book on television and noticed many drivers have or were vacating the track heading off back to their accommodation. Not everyone is as fortunate as some of the top drivers having 5 star motor homes at the circuit.

Lando working with his crew dismantling his car.

I noticed a tweet from Lando Norris who drives for McLaren doing something which I thought should be normal. After the race instead of swanning off like a primadonna he stayed behind and helped his team mates. Just because the race has finished it doesn't mean the work is done as everything has to be disassembled and packed away.

What better way of gaining respect as a newish driver in a team than to help your mechanics pack up. I have never seen this before and it shows the type of character he is. He isn't too important to carry a box or loosen some bolts. I particularly like seeing this type of thing as it is what I would do and can understand where he is coming from. The lock down I would say has been good for certain things and team morale and team building is definitely one of the positives. People spending time getting to know each other when most likely they possibly would be doing something else.

The top drivers who choose to stay on site really have 5 star accommodation. The crews won't be as lucky, but they will be well looked after.

There is no rush as they are in his bubble and the sooner it is done the sooner they can leave. The next race is in two weeks time so what is the rush? They have been away for 3 weeks already on the road and have to remain in quarantine. I am not sure on the rules regarding the teams now travelling to Silverstone which is a home race for a majority of the teams.

It is fairly impressive when you see the team trucks on the freeway. I last saw the Marlboro McLaren team on the road over 20 years ago and that was a convoy of 4 trucks back then.

Each team will have a fleet of trucks to cart all their gear. More now than ever before as they are spending longer times on the road so more things are needed at hand. Just the spares required for 3 races for two cars must be a truck just on it's own.

I would like to see more of the other drivers getting involved and maybe this will wake them up. Lando wasn't posing for the photo and is no ways set up for scoring brownie points. Speaking of browny points here is the McLaren teams caterers brownie recipe which many have been raving about.

I guess I will have to make these now. Looks too simple and something I can easily handle. Stay posted for Brownie pictures later in the week.

This recipe is pure suicide!

As about the drivers staying on the racing track, the Hungarian government had some serious rules that were compulsory. They were allowed to go to the hotel and the racing track and that is all. Otherwise they could have been arrested. This was all due to covid19.

Hamilton said he's going to stay in his RV, just like a few others as I see.

Suicidal enough to try. Roughly 1 kg of sugar plus the chocolate and cocoa powder plus 400ml of vegetable oil. Not vegan friendly with 12 eggs and yoghurt. Tempted to givethis one a bash just for the heck of it. Can always give them away to people you don't like.
