Sports OCD Curation Weekly Report

Lets start hitting more comments by upvoting using out sports tokens. This is simple yet will be the weapon we need to reach 1000 members by the year end.

Today marks 6 weeks since OCD started supporting the @sportstalksocial community with the community incubation program. It is always good to keep an eye on the growth as the members are the future of the tribe.

We started off with 722 members and checking the latest figures we have 842 which is an increase of 120 and 14 up on last week. The active members disappointingly have stayed constant on 141 but that is probably a positive these days.

This week was a tough week for curation as many accounts are not being consistent and posting. When we first started with the curation program I did put some guide lines in regarding posting. Hers is a quick reminder to help you as many of you have forgotten.

  1. Minimum of 500 words as that is a standard length for a post as it shows some effort.
  2. Personal insight with your own words and thoughts as anything else is boring. Lately there are a lot of match reports with football that I am avoiding as they are super boring with nothing different. May seem harsh but we are not professional writers and shouldn't be thinking we are. Just be yourself and add your own thoughts as that is far more interesting.
  3. Still people are tagging @ocd expecting to get curated with a 200 word post and must be living on another planet. I look at all posts so no extra tagging is necessary.

I am trying to be fair on everyone that qualifies for curation by not having the same names on a regular basis and looking for new authors if they are good enough. The trending page is the advert for the @sportstalksocial community and what draws new users in so it needs to reflect quality and opportunity.

Over the last month things generally have become quiet with the hard fork glitches not helping matters, but cannot be the reason. When the price of Hive drops it somehow affects the activities of many users. If they took the time to work it out price should make no difference as the amount of Hive you earn is still the same even if the $ dollar rewards are down.

The one thing we can all do is to engage with other tribe members on their posts. This is one area we can really improve on and will not only help the retention of new members, but also attract new ones. 600 interactions is not that much if you divide it by how many active users we have and is averaging about four activities each.

Over the next month I will be rewarding comments with my sports account and would hope others do the same. There is nothing worse than seeing a post with rewards and no comments as you start to wonder if anyone has read it or not. I believe as a community we should be having 2000 activities which is 3 times more than now. If we can do that I can assure you the community will grow at a faster rate than an extra 10 or 20 per week and reach our year end goal of 1000 community members.

I have been upvoting some comments lately with my sports account. It is something that I have been making a dedicated effort to do. I am glad to hear there is still some growth.

Growth needs to happen and I think engagement on posts will help that.

I would comment a bit more but most of the posts are about sports that do not interest me such as soccer and F-1. No offense to people that are into that stuff... you do you... but I try to be as involved as possible :)

That is perfect as there are plenty things I don't enjoy either. Comments I think is more about the person at the end of the day as many of us have a connection as we have got to know each other.
