Sportstalk OCD Incubation Curation Update

Here we are on week 10 with the OCD curation project and the community or sports tribe is still growing and edging towards the magic number of 1000 members. 895 is not far off the magical number and one that I see us achieving by the year end. This last week we saw 21 posts being submitted for OCD curation and this is much appreciated and a big thank you to OCD for their support. I would love to send more through and I am constantly hunting, but many are just too short and 200 words doesn't justify an upvote in my book. A decent comment can be 100 words so a post surely needs to show some time and effort. If you are running a competition add some more substance and you qualify and will put them forward.

Linear curation is now live on the @sportstalk community which should make a big difference to the engagement. The same value holds on your vote whether it is for a post or a comment which is music to my ears.

We have seen what has happened to the other tribes who have gone linear and surely sports will follow suit. Commenting is the heart of any community and shows where the strength and value is in having an active user base.

Over the last year we have seen comments and replies slowly disappear as posting was the main source of earning and now that is slowly changing as commenting can be as profitable as posting. When I first started out this is exactly how I grew as my posts were worthless and 100's of comments weekly is what set me on my way.

Engaging with other users is how you grow your following and support so eventually your posts are worth more with all the added votes. This is not rocket science and how this place is meant to work or once did and is moving back to that age old formula.

There are many new users producing decent articles on a regular basis and it is time to do manual curation and to comment like crazy. I for one along with others will be happy to upvote comments and look for any new users who have joined us recently.

In order to get the extra curation boost please do an article of around 500 words minimum and use your own words even if English is not your first language as we look past that. I know how tough it is and takes twice if not three times as long to do and recognise that when I read them.

The @crazysports topic didn't go down too well and only had a handful of posts last week so we will keep it open for another week if any others want to join in. Just tag #crazysports and I will check it out. there are so many whacky sports out there I thought it would be fairly popular so maybe others missed the post and never read it so this is a repeat lol. Still can't believe this has to be repeated saying we are actually trying to help you earn a little extra.

The sports community is a community from all over the world so surely you have some crazy sport we may not even know about. In Nigeria do you just play football or is there some other sport local to you guys we have never heard of. The same in South America or Indonesia surely you have some local traditional sports that we have never heard of and we would love to know them.

Looking forward to the month of December now as I believe the sports community will explode with new users at some point soon. We can only hope anyway and I remain positive about what is happening as all the signs are good.

21 posts is a pretty good amount to be submitted, I surprised that more people don't do this with all the writers on Hive. Don't they realize they earn a lot of Hive also when they write for Sports Talk Social?

I have no idea if they do or don't as it doesn't make sense. I try and keep the numbers high averaging at least 3 per day if the posts are there. Wish I could do more but it s a struggle to be honest and only slowly are more and more users joining.

That is really too bad that there weren't more posts about the crazy sports. I can think of at least ten off the top of my head to do a post about if I wanted to. I think people just aren't trying hard enough.

Times are hard right now and it's discouraging for one too spend time writing quality content and ends up earning peanuts that's not even enough to get a plate of food matter putting so much effort. But hopefully I bet things Wi change when the price of various cryptocurrency goes up and rally kicks in fully

People don't understand as it is easier to earn right now than when the token has value. When more people are around it is already too late so the best time is now.

I for one just discovered I dont have the strength to create new contents so I will option in for curating and commenting of contents I read! Removing my mind from the earnings so I won't be discouraged

Reading and making thoughtful comments is a good way to earn tokens as well as creating engagement. We need more people like you :-)

I had no idea there was tag running. I have been getting back into the groove of things after I caught the damn bug, had a period where it was hard to go back to my routine but I am slowly getting there. I am definitely getting involved in the #crazysports tag.

Do you know what I was wondering? Is there a Fantasy Premier League (league) currently running for the Sports community. I would love to be part of it or if there is none I should probably create one and probably gift the top points winner each week with a healthy amount of SPORTS.

Good idea and one many will join in. There are some around but none that is official on sports as far as I know as I haven't joined any. I try and use a tag every few weeks to help everyone to try and make things more interesting and different.

It's my first to hear about #crazysports. I just made one with the tag.

21 posts curated with OCD is sure something still to be proud of though we can do more than that. With the linear rewards on the line, all hopes for a better content creation.

This is also my first time to know someone in the Sportstalk community is part of OCD team. We're glad to have you as a representative.

Glad you used the tag and will go and check it out. I have been busy for the last 10 weeks doing this hunting to find posts and it has improved somewhat which is good to see. This is for the community and we need this right now in order to grow.

Great work, but same old problem that no-one reads anyone else's posts. I had a poke around some of the biggest earner's comments and engagement was abysmal, only replying to comments on their own posts, and then, only occasionally. One of the most well known had made just 5 comments in a week and less than 100 words in total. Of course, I am as guilty as everyone else but will address this, especially if I see anything other than shit-posts of regurgitated bollocks of 200 words....
We all need to actually read and comment upon other peoples posts! its all sport, its something we're all interested in or we wouldn't be here.
Any chance we can think of a way to incentivise reading that doesn't involve simply getting big upvotes on a comment? Tough one.
PS Just realised who the big voter on my team's comments was last week. Everyone said a huge thank-you the following day, just in case you didn't see. Much appreciated :-)
PPS how about a 'Diamond League' for consensually agreed quality authors with a nomination system?

I think that could be a good idea having a Diamond League or Champions League that everyone aspires to get into. I have some ideas and wanted to see if the linear curve changed anything or not regarding trending. Reading posts is essential and commenting is a must and if we can't do that there is no point.

I'm glad that the linear curation is live and I believe it will foster growth in the community.

About the #crazysports, just seeing it now because I have been absent for a while. However, I'll love to participate.
