Vettel And Aston Martin Look Certain To Team Up Yet Again

Payback is a bitch and Perez is getting it handed back to him for how he displaced Ocon two seasons ago. Vettel looks 99% certain to get his seat next year.

In Formula One rumors tend to start and more often than not turn into reality. The racing teams all know each other really well and personnel chop and change fairly regularly.

Sebastien Vettel has been searching for a seat foe next season and his options have decreased as Renault signed Fernando Alonso at Renault two weeks ago. The one rumour that hasn't disappeared is Vettel going to Aston Martin who are currently known as Racing Point.

Aston Martin partner with Racing Point next season.

Lawrence Stroll is the owner of the team and having Aston Martin as a major share holder changes things. I am not certain if the name change alters the contracts in place or not. The two drivers are Lance Stroll who is family so will most likely be protected and Sergio Perez. Perez still has two years left on his contract, but who would Aston Martin prefer.

I am sure he knows where he is going already.

Vettel being released from Ferrari was a little unexpected but Aston martin would surely want a 4 time World Champion over a Perez or a Stroll. Vettel is a household name and just for commercial reasons alone he carries more clout. Perez is big in Mexico but how many Aston Martins are sold there.

The Formula One teams that are factory teams like Mercedes,Ferrari,Renault and McLaren are marketing tools that help drive their main business of selling cars. Aston martin have been in the game long enough with Red Bull to know the importance of winning.

Vettel will know the Aston Martin hierarchy as he won 4 world Titles driving for Red Bull/Aston Martin. This cannot be overlooked and believe they will force Racing Point to pay off Perez to make space for Vettel next season.Aston Martin need Vettel as much as he needs them and believe it will happen.

Looks almost certain Perez is being given the boot for next season.

I don't feel sorry for Perez as firstly he will be paid out if his contract still is legal with the new team name change. How he got the seat originally was not pleasant as he made Esteban Ocon lose his seat by crashing him out of a race on purpose. Perez argued it was a racing incident, but was way too obvious and should have had his AAA Licence torn up.

Aston Martin need Vettel to help put a face on their projects much like Hamilton does with Mercedes.

Andy Palmer will want and demand Vettel seen here with Christian Horner from Red Bull racing.

This season the Racing Point team has shown that the Mercedes clone car has helped improve the teams performances but are lacking quality behind the wheel. Perez and Stroll are never going to set the house on fire as they are more like journeymen career drivers making up the numbers. I don't believe if they even had the top car they could win as they don't have the skills required.

Those Aston Martins are pretty sweet cars in general. I was at the tire shop the other day getting some new wheels and they had a showdown between an AM and a Mercedes. The AM just seemed much nicer on the inside. Of course, that has nothing to do with race cars! :)
