Sports Talk Social Community: My opinion

sportstalk.png

Hello community,

I decided to do this post, because in the past I had already done others where I gave my opinion on the progress of the community and I haven't done it for some time.

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone on reaching the 1000 members in our community, but I want to especially thank @cryptoandcoffee for always encouraging members to create quality content.

Now let's talk about some specific issues about our community:

  • DAO

The much talked about DAO was created, implemented and approved by the community.

In my humble opinion, DAO serves more to define the sale / purchase of tokes on the Hive Engine. This can be good because the community can define what is done economically with the community account.

However it seems to me that there are more important things that should be done / discussed than thinking about the "profitability" of this account when our toke is hyper devalued and being farmed by everyone.

My definition of DAO is something that everyone should be able to submit a proposal or petition to, regardless of the amount of SPORTS it has.
However, with the cost of 100k SPORTS we are soon restricting younger people in the community or with less SPORTS to create a proposal.
For example: In my case, this reprehensents about 50% of my SPORTS stake and I am not willing to lose half of my SPORTS to make a proposal.

  • Discord

I was very happy to see some elements interact in order to try to help with, for example, the issue of ads.

In the discord's conversations, it was mentioned that some information about the community should be clearer and passed on from time to time to the elements of the community.
I agree with this, because this way we would all know the existing roadmap and how things are going.

It has been widely talked about / discussed that somehow we should make people use our front end more.

Currently there is a proposal from @patrickulrich to cut rewards by 50% for those who do not publish posts through our interface.

Despite this moment most of the votes are being approved for this, I voted NO.

My arguments for my vote are as follows:

  • Our interface is slow compared to others like PeakD.

  • The design is not user-friendly. It looks like a 90's interface.

  • The post editor is archaic, as it still requires you to use Markdown Stying, which does not facilitate its use at all.

  • It is not possible to save drafts something that I miss, because sometimes I need to save something that I started to write but was unable to finish.

A few days ago I saw a tweet in which 3Speak offered to develop a front-end for a community in case it joins Hive.

https://twitter.com/3speakonline/status/1354601317981843459

Couldn't we look for communities or people within the Hive world to help us improve our front-end?

  • Adverts

I saw that @patrickulrich was looking for more platforms that made ads available and I remembered ZoinZilla Ads.

I don't really know how it works, but I already have several ads on this platform on different sites.

In conclusion, I think that there are still several things that we should improve and I don't know how to do it through DAO would be the best approach.

Let's grow SPORTS

Don't worry about the 100k proposal as I don't mind handing out if it is decent and something the community will go for. I know others would chip in as well. I must admit I am not a fan of the sports front end and why I use peakd for posting.

If the proposal is approved, users have to use SportsTalkSocial platform not to lose 50% of author rewards. It is easy for someone to use any front end to make the post that he/she feels comfortable with. I usually use hive.blog, peakd and LeoFinance front end to make posts.

In order to get different benefits like SEO, getting more traffic, branding, onboarding new users, generating more ads revenue (when ads will be introduced), users need to use the native front end. At the same time, I think most people will not find the native front end very user friendly. So it would be better if SportsTalkSocial focuses on having a user-friendly front end next.

Thank you @cryptosimplify for sharing your opinion.

I have the same opinion as you

Instead to try to force people now to use it. The focus should be to improve the front end and them start to make people use it.
